The Essential Update You Need To Know Before You Visit Disney World This Year

Disney World changes very often, which means you’ll visit the parks one time, and a few months later things have changed.

EPCOT

This can make it hard to plan your vacation, but that’s why we’re here! We keep up with all the latest Disney news so you know what’s happening the next time you visit. If you’re visiting the parks this year, here are some recent changes you NEED to know about!

My Disney Experience App

A few changes have come to the My Disney Experience App recently that make dining a lot easier. If you’re looking for a dining reservation during your trip, you can now choose a range of dates and see ALL the dining reservations during that range!

This is a fantastic way to see everything that will be available during your trip at that time. However, if you’re trying to book 60 days out and don’t see what you’d like, don’t forget to keep checking back! Many people will cancel their reservations, even the day of, so keep at it for a better chance to get that reservation!

If you don’t have a reservation for a restaurant and want to join their walk-up waitlist, you can also now see how long the estimated wait time is on the park map. This makes it much easier to make a quick decision on where you’d like to eat!

So for those of you who really love table service dining, don’t forget to take advantage of these changes.

Restaurant Reopening!

After YEARS of being closed, 1900 Park Fare has finally reopened in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort!

1900 Park Fare!

This is a character table service meal available for breakfast and dinner each day. You’ll be able to meet wish makers Aladdin, Mirabel, Cinderella, and Tiana during your meal and enjoy and all-you-can-eat buffet! This is a hard reservation to snag right now, so be sure to grab it as soon as that 60 day window opens at 7AM!

Opening AND Closing Attractions

A lot of attractions are getting ready to undergo some changes, both for opening and closing. Beware of the following attractions planning to (re)open later this year and the crowds they’ll bring!

Ride testing at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

As for attractions that will be closing this year, or we’re keeping a close eye out for:

  • Test Track (closing June 17th for reimagining)
  • Dinoland U.S.A. (this has NOT been confirmed, but we do know Disney is researching for the revamping of this land)
  • It’s Tough To Be a Bug (we know this show will be closing to make way for a new Zootopia show, but no timeline has been announced)

Disability Access Service (DAS) Changing

Disney has recently announced that their DAS system for park guests with disabilities is changing on May 20th. While we’re expecting more specific details from Disney soon, here’s what we do know for sure is changing:

  • DAS users will now renew their pass after 120 days instead of 60 days
  • The DAS user will be able to have 4 guests join them on their pass (instead of 6), OR their immediate family members if more than 4
  • Disney is partnering with Inspire Health Alliance for the DAS System
  • DAS and the 2 pre-entitlements (selecting rides ahead of time per day) that come with qualifying online for the system will now be separate — most guests eligible for DAS will NOT receive those pre-entitlements
  • Guests found to be lying about qualifying for DAS will be permanently banned from Disney World and Disneyland

Trust us, there are still lots of questions about these changes floating around, but many of them won’t be answered until the change takes place on May 20th. We’ll be sure to keep you updated with our findings, as well as all the other latest Disney news, so stay tuned to DFB!
