Now is a GREAT time to be a Disney World fan — so many exciting changes are happening!

We’re getting ready to celebrate the 30th Anniversary Celebration of The Lion King at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, not to mention the new meet and greet at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and the official opening of CommuniCore Hall & Plaza in EPCOT — including another new meet and greet. And, we spotted another change because a new attraction has been added to Genie+ at EPCOT!

A brand-new character meet and greet has now officially opened at EPCOT! The Mickey & Friends Disney Pals meet and greet is just one of the new experiences that you can now enjoy thanks to the opening of CommuniCore Hall and Plaza. Previously, Disney just said that “Mickey & Friends” would be at this meet-and-greet, but we later learned it will always feature Mickey and at least one friend — but sometimes more!

You can check out our meet and greet experience here, but that’s not the only update we have to share. The Mickey & Friends meet and greet at CommuniCore Hall has been added to the Genie+ lineup for EPCOT! This means that if you purchase the standard Genie+ for the day, you’ll be able to reserve a Lightning Lane and come back to hang out with these pals at a later time. You can find it by searching “Meet Beloved Disney Pals at Mickey & Friends,” or by checking out your Tip Board on the My Disney Experience app.

You can also view the most up-to-date wait times along with the meet and greet hours, location, and a brief description about what you can expect. As of now, Disney Cast Members confirmed characters in this meet-and-greet area will meet with guests continuously all day just as they do at Pete’s Silly Sideshow and Town Square Theater at Magic Kingdom.

There is a Disney PhotoPass Photographer stationed at the meet-and-greet, and they can take a photo of you and the characters. Remember that it costs extra to get those photos later on, so if you don’t want to pay for them, you can also ask them to take a pic using your own phone or camera! CommuniCore Hall is a brand-new building that is now open as of June 10th,2024, and it’s all about EPCOT’s seasonal festivals. It’s located inside CommuniCore Plaza, which is an outdoor area that has stages for live music, gardens, and other decorations. Inside the Hall, you can check out a new Encanto show, gallery space, demonstration kitchens, and a mixology bar.

Now that CommuniCore Hall and Plaza are OFFICALLY open, that also means we are seeing a huge change on the EPCOT map. This area used to be a green space on the My Disney Experience app map, but now you can see the structure. This has been years in the making, and it is so exciting to finally see the map filled out!
