Oh, Disney Cruise Line, how we love you!

Cruising with Disney is VERY different from visiting Walt Disney World or Disneyland Resort because instead of rushing around the theme parks all day trying to accomplish everything you’re dreaming of, you’re relaxing on a boat, leisurely participating in whatever activities you choose. However, there are some limitations to what you can bring on a Disney Cruise that you may not be expecting, and this INCLUDES the newest cruise ship, the Disney Treasure.

The Disney Treasure will be setting sail with guests on December 21st, 2024, and is the sixth ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet. The Treasure celebrates Walt Disney’s love of adventure, and the design of the ship is “inspired by the grandeur and mystery of a gilded palace,” and draws influences from Asia, Africa, and even Aladdin’s Agrabah.

We can’t wait to see the beautiful statue of Aladdin, Jasmine, and the Flying Carpet in the lobby…

…and get to experience all the exciting new restaurants, entertainment, and exclusive offerings this ship has in store for guests. If you’re already mentally preparing your packing list though, we need to tell you — there are some items banned on Disney Cruise Line ships that you may not expect. They even took us by surprise!

Be sure NOT to pack the following in your suitcase:

• Scissors with blades exceeding 4 inches
• Electric blankets
• Diffusers
• Extension cords, power strips, multi-plugs, and surge protectors
• Heating pads
• Musical instruments
• Over-the-door hanging organizers, over-the-door hooks
• Seasonal and/or strands of celebratory lightbulbs

Some of these items were a little surprising to us. For example, staterooms on Disney cruises don’t have THAT many outlets, and if you’re like our team, you may need to charge your phone, watch, MagicBand+, camera, camera batteries, EXTRA camera batteries, and more in one room, AND you may have more than one person in the room who needs to charge all those devices. So what are we supposed to do if we can’t bring multi-plugs?

Getting organized on a Disney Cruise is a little tough, especially if you’ve got a room filled with a lot of people. Usually, an over-the-door organizer is a great way to keep everyone’s stuff in the right place, but unfortunately, they are not allowed.

Overall, some of these items may seem silly to ban because they can be really useful things to take with you, but Disney WILL check every bag through metal detectors and scanners before you board. So, if you bring something that’s not allowed, they WILL find it and it may hold up your boarding process or the amount of time it takes for your luggage to be sent to your room.
