New construction walls are up in Animation Courtyard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, blocking the exit of the former “Voyage of the Little Mermaid” theater.
Animation Courtyard Theater Construction Walls Near Former Voyage of the Little Mermaid Theater
The walls are between the shuttered outdoor shopping area and Studio Store. A new “The Little Mermaid” stage show called “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” is set to open in the space this year. “Voyage of the Little Mermaid” never reopened following Disney’s COVID-19-related closures.
The construction walls stretch between dark blue columns in the courtyard. These walls are the first signs of construction for the new show. When it was announced, Disney stated the theater would be refreshed.
The walls are decorated with PPG Paints-branded signs featuring character quotes. This one has Yoda’s silhouette and reads, “Difficult to see; always in motion is the future.”
The other sign features Indiana Jones’ hat and the quote, “Fortune and glory, kid. Fortune and glory.”
“The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” will include all the songs from “Voyage of the Little Mermaid,” as well as “Kiss The Girl” and “Daughters of Triton.” It will use new puppets, including in an updated blacklight sequence. It will also have characters like King Triton and Ursula appear via digital imagery and motion capture.
