Elfman shared a screenshot of a Deadline article about Dark Universe and linked to Universal’s video reveal on an Instagram story. He wrote, “The Universal Monsters have always been such a big part of my life. I’m grateful and honored to have been chosen to compose the music for the new Dark Universe in @universalorlando. I can’t wait to go!!!”
Universal revealed details of Dark Universe just a few days ago. The land will include two major attractions — Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment and Curse of the Werewolf. There will also be monster meet and greets, themed restaurants, and a monster makeover experience.
Earlier this year, Elfman teased his work on Dark Universe in an interview with Deadline, stating he was working on “monster music” for an Orlando theme park.
Elfman is known for collaborating with Tim Burton and Sam Raimi. Some of his most famous work includes the scores for “Beetlejuice,” “Batman,” “Edward Scissorhands,” “Wednesday,” Raimi’s “Spider-Man,” “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” “Meet the Robinsons,” live-action “Alice in Wonderland,” and “Men in Black.” He’s not new to theme park work, having also composed the music for Mystic Manor in Hong Kong Disneyland. A portrait of Elfman appears on the ride.
Epic Universe is set to open in 2025.
