EVERYONE has their own park strategy for Disney World, especially when it comes to rides.
Many of us are not going to get up early to rope drop, no matter what (we like our sleep). We’ll just get Genie+ (Disney’s paid skip-the-line service) and hit a ride’s Lightning Lane (the exclusive, paid, shorter line) later if it’s available (although with the new Genie+ changes, sleeping in may be a bit more convenient). Others are going to be at the parks BEFORE they open, either using Early Theme Park Entry, or standing in line at the front gates to get in for rope drop — then we’re going to speed walk to our favorite attractions. If you fall into that latter category, there’s one ride in Disney World you won’t be able to rope drop — even if you try.
Yes, we are ALL excited about the opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom, but if you try to rope drop this ride, well, it’s not going to work. First, Frontierland is not open for Early Theme Park Entry (reserved for people staying in Disney World hotels), so lining up for the ride just really isn’t going to happen.
However, the biggest reason you can’t rope drop the ride is that there is no standby line. You can’t just get in line — it doesn’t work like that. If you want to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, you need to either grab a spot in the virtual queue or book a Lightning Lane selection through Genie+ (soon to be Lightning Lane Multi-Pass).
To get a spot in the virtual queue line, you can try twice per day, once at 7AM and again at 1PM. You’ll do so through the My Disney Experience app. Not sure what to do? Be sure to read our Step-By-Step guide on how to use the virtual queue system at Disney World. Recently, virtual queue spots have been going FAST (we’re talking within seconds), so you may have better luck paying for Genie+ and trying to get a Lightning Lane selection that way.
When Lightning Lane Multi-Pass replaces Genie+ on July 24th, you’ll be able to get Lightning Lane selections in advance of your trip to Disney World. Disney World hotel guests will be able to grab selections as early as seven days before their trip, while everyone else can book advance selections three days before their trip. When this new system starts, that might be the best way to guarantee a ride on Disney World’s newest attraction.
In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
