Heat Advisory Issued for Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort on 4th of July

A heat advisory has been issued for Central Florida for Thursday, July 4, which includes the Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort areas, due to expected high temperatures.

The National Weather Service (NWS) advisory was issued at 1:51 a.m. on Thursday, and includes the following areas:

  • Inland Volusia
  • Northern Lake
  • Orange
  • Seminole
  • Osceola
  • Okeechobee
  • Coastal Volusia
  • Southern Lake
  • Coastal Indian River
  • Coastal Saint
  • Lucie
  • Coastal Martin
  • Inland Northern Brevard
  • Inland Indian River
  • Inland Saint Lucie
  • Inland Martin
  • Mainland Northern Brevard
  • Northern Brevard Barrier Islands
  • Inland Southern Brevard
  • Mainland
  • Southern Brevard
  • Southern Brevard Barrier Islands

The advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. EDT, with heat index values expected to reach 110 degrees Fahrenheit. The NWS advises that individuals take proper precautions, including:

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
