We’re constantly on the lookout for Disney news, and we sometimes find it in the strangest of places.
It’s Mickey!
Sometimes Disney shares news directly on its websites or through the Disney Parks Blog. Sometimes we hear about the latest announcements from major news sources or the latest Walt Disney Company earnings call. And sometimes we learn new info just from visiting the theme parks. But now, it looks like Mickey Mouse himself is gearing up to announce something big!
The Mickey Mouse Instagram account posted a very cryptic video on Wednesday, July 10th. It’s captioned “Something magical is coming.” and features a clip of Mickey, Goofy, and Donald rocking out at what appears to be some kind of concert.
In trying to “decode” this message, there are a few clues we need to take into consideration. First of all, since this was posted on the Mickey Mouse account, this will likely have something to do with the main mouse himself. Disney doesn’t often use the Mickey Mouse account to make announcements for things that are completely unrelated to the character.

Also, the song that plays in the video is a punk/rock version of “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” from The Lion King — a movie that’s celebrating its 30th Anniversary this year. It’s possible that the announcement could be related directly to something to do with that anniversary celebration.

But there’s another big clue that we need to consider! The band Simple Plan commented on the post and said “Hmmm…sounds familiar.” Also, their drummer, Chuck Comeau, commented on the post as well. The style of music in the video is similar to what Simple Plan plays, so could it be them?
Mickey Mouse on Castaway Cay
Simple Plan performed at EPCOT for the International Flower & Garden Festival in 2024, but they haven’t been announced for the International Food & Wine Festival lineup, so it’s possible that this announcement could be related to that. However, it could also be related directly to their music instead.
2023 Garden Rocks Concert
Some in the comments of the post theorized that Disney’s working on a punk/rock playlist of popular Disney songs, using Simple Plan to help out with that endeavor! Other Disney characters have been given their own playlists (like Minnie Mouse has a lofi playlist on Spotify), so why not give Mickey Mouse his own rock music playlist?!
