New Security Procedures Being Tested at EPCOT

Walt Disney World was testing slightly different security procedures at EPCOT on Friday morning.

EPCOT Tests New Security Procedures

The new procedures were in place at the eastern security plaza. Security by the bus stops was continuing as normal.

A sunny day with a bright sky and some clouds, a pathway lined with trees and a low building in the foreground, reminiscent of Disney magic. There's a distant structure in the background. People are walking along the path, enjoying both the scenery and the sense of security it offers.

At the eastern plaza, Disney sent guests using wheelchairs or strollers to the far left, closer to the exit. All other guests were sent to the far right, closer to the Monorail station. Usually, guests would enter the same area, although those with wheels would use a separate line.

People walk and gather near a shaded communal area surrounded by trees and greenery on a sunny day. Some stand in line, and others stroll the park with clear skies above.

The other change was how tables for bag checks were arranged. As you can see on the right in our photo above, the tables were set up diagonally instead of next to each other. This made it harder to see other guests’ items as they were being checked.

There was no new equipment but we saw managers watching the procedure. We asked a security Cast Member if it was a test or a permanent change, and were told it was something they were trying for today.

We also went through security at the Transportation and Ticket Center and there were no procedure changes there.
