Is there any music as iconic as Disney music? Just the first few chords of “Happily Ever After” can usually make an adult cry, right?

Throughout its long history, Disney has created some of the most loved songs in history, including earworms that have been playing non-stop since we first heard them (have we ever really stopped listening to “We Don’t Talk About Bruno“? NOPE!). Well, now some of those Disney songs are getting reimagined as pop-punk hits, including a brand-new song Disney just released with Canadian rock band A Simple Plan.
Disney has announced the very first single from a brand new album called A Whole New Sound. The new song is a new version of “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” from The Lion King (which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year — and yes, that makes us feel old) as performed by pop-punk band Simple Plan. It’s a brand-new take on a CLASSIC. You’ll now find the single on all the popular streaming sites, but you can also listen to it below.
“We wanted to pay homage to Sir Elton John’s original version while also adding our own style to it and making it sound fun and energetic,” Simple Plan said. “We’re really stoked by how it turned out and we hope everyone will enjoy it.”
The album, which will be available next year, will feature even more Disney songs reimagined by popular alternative, rock, and pop-punk bands. Disney also released the artwork for the album.

Simple Plan will be playing their version of “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” LIVE for fans at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event on August 9th, so if you have tickets to that, be sure to catch their performance!
