The “Pokémon Jumpin’ Halloween Party” is back for another year at Universal Studios Japan. The highly popular and immersive show has been enhanced for a more engaging experience this year. Last year, we described the show as a “choreography and jumping session.”

The show features original music by DECO*27 and familiar Pokémon songs. It is once again being performed in Gramercy Park.

Large crowd of children gathered around people dressed as Pikachu and Gengar characters on an outdoor stage, with a building and stage lighting in the background.

As Pokémon and performers take the stage and groove along to the music, guests are invited to participate in the show. There are various call-and-response actions, and guests are invited to jump along with the performers in front of the stage.

While five Pokémon appear throughout the show, DJ Pikachu and DJ Gengar are featured in the largest roles.

A large, gray costume character performs on stage with two dancers in shiny jackets and purple pants during the 2024 Pokémon Halloween Party at Universal Studios Japan. An audience of children in colorful attire watches the performance.

The first of the other three Pokémon to make an appearance is Banette. She, like every Pokémon in the show except for Pikachu, is a ghost-type Pokémon. Banette is joined on stage by performers in black jackets and purple and gold pants.

Performers in colorful costumes and a large Mimikyu mascot entertain a crowd on an outdoor stage with a digital screen backdrop at the 2024 Pokémon Halloween Party in Universal Studios Japan.

Next up is Mimikyu. As Mimikyu makes its way to center stage, the video board in the background shows images of the ghost-type Pokémon. The same performers who were present during Banette’s portion of the show remain on stage.

A large blue cartoon character with a beaded necklace is performing on an outdoor stage at Universal Studios Japan's Halloween Party, as three people holding red umbrellas join in while a crowd of children, resembling excited Pokémon fans, watch eagerly.

The final Pokémon to appear was Misdreavus. For part of her performance, the other performers pull out red umbrellas.

A crowded outdoor event at Universal Studios Japan features a DJ Pikachu performance on a stage decorated with Poké Balls and large screens displaying "DJ Pikachu." Attendees, dressed for the Halloween Party, are watching and taking photos.

During the show, DJ Pikachu makes his way to the scaffolding above the stage where he stations himself between two speakers. The screen beneath him announces his presence, as he “plays” songs for the crowd.

The Pokémon Charge Up! Halloween Greeting is also back this year. Here, guests get to interact with some of their favorite Pokémon including five of the stars of “Pokémon Jumpin’ Halloween Party.”

During the character meet-and-greet, guests can grab fun Halloween props that they can pose with for pictures.

In addition to meeting DJ Pikachu, DJ Gengar, Mimikyu, Misdreavus, and Banette, guests will have the opportunity to meet two more Pokémon at this year’s event.

A person dressed in a colorful costume holds a sign that says "Pokémon Show!" while standing next to someone in a large, pumpkin-like Pokémon costume outdoors on a brick-paved street at Universal Studios Japan's Halloween Party.

The first new character is Pumpkaboo. The pumpkin Pokémon doesn’t have to don a new costume to get in the Halloween spirit.

When Universal Studios Japan released its Halloween food menu at the end of August, the Round Pumpkaboo Pumpkin Cake was announced in honor of Pumpkaboo.

The second new character is Litwick. Litwick is a candle-like Pokémon with a purple flame atop its head.

Litwick was also honored with a food item this year, as its likeness appears as Hitomoshi’s Gooey Yogurt Mousse Cake. Hitomoshi is what Litwick is known as in Japan.

As with the “Pokémon Jumpin’ Halloween Party,” DECO*27’s lively Halloween songs play throughout the meet-and-greet experience. Guests can meet their favorite Pokémon from September 5 through November 4.
