Lights Installed on DVC Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

The first lights have been installed on the exterior of the Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows, a new Disney Vacation Club destination.

Crews have installed tall brown sconces on some of the columns between balconies. Brown paneling has also been added along the top of the tower’s lower wall on this end.

When we passed by on the Monorail, crew members in a cherry picker were working along a column that was partially painted dark brown.

More crew members in cherry pickers were working near the top of the building. They have installed new lights beneath the overhang on the center of the building. More paneling is atop the port-cochère, almost completely covering the roof.

There are more sconces on this end of the building. They’re only along the top floor of each wing.

We didn’t see any sconces on the other side of the building. But crew members were working on the other overhang.

The large square openings in the building will be terrace gardens. One is filled with scaffolding and a crew member was actively working there.

The slanted columns beneath this overhang have been enclosed with sheathing and concrete. When we last checked in, they were still exposed steel frames.

The other terrace garden has visible plants. The space isn’t done yet — the walls are still gray and a wire was hanging from the ceiling.

The restaurant and bar on the first floor of Island Tower is Wailulu Bar and Grill. The columns of the round outdoor bar area have been covered in plywood. More paneling has been installed on the roof.

We saw several crew members in discussion near the pool.

As we previously reported, Moana’s outrigger boat is in place to be the centerpiece of a splash pad.

This section of the tower is still unfinished. It has yet to be painted and no permanent railings have been installed. But the windows looking out on the balconies look complete.
