Earlier this year, Disney announced a year-long refurbishment of Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. This refurbishment began late in September 2024 and is set to conclude by September 2025.

On a recent visit to Bay Lake Tower, we noticed that work had already begun on some of the top floor rooms, and equipment was staged.

A modern, curved high-rise building stands near a body of water, with overcast skies above and a paved area in the foreground.

We walked over to the waterfront area of the Contemporary to get a better view of some of the room work. It appears there is now a tarp taped to the windows of some of the rooms. Chairs have been removed from the balconies.

Here is a better view of those tarped windows. This is likely to protect the windows from any damage during the refurbishment. This would suggest that there is certainly going to be fresh paint in each room.

For now, it appears that it is only the top six floors that are being refurbished. Disney did not say that they were going to be shutting down the entire tower for this refurbishment, so they may do it in waves until completion.

Behind the tarped windows, you can barely see lights shining through from the other side.

While walking over the Sky Way Bridge connecting Bay Lake Tower to Disney’s Contemporary Resort, we noticed a giant crane was staged in the loading dock area of the hotel.

We also saw reports where furniture was being removed from the rooms and loaded onto trucks to be taken away. The only remanent was this piece of plywood in the parking lot.

Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is part of Disney’s Vacation Club. In addition to the refurbishment, the Bay Lake Tower pool will be closing for its own refurbishment starting in early 2026.

Stay tuned for more updates as refurbishment continues.
