3 Things That Truly SHOCKED Us About Disney’s NEW Skip-the-Line Pass

We’re here at Disneyland to cover the debut of the Lightning Lane Premiere Pass!

Disneyland

We’re conquering every ride included with the Premier Pass and, in the process, learning a thing or two about the new skip-the-line system. While we were prepared for most things the Premier Pass had to offer — including its astronomical price — there were some surprises with the new system that we have to tell you about!

The new Lightning Lane Premiere Pass went live at the Disneyland Resort on October 23rd, 2024, and is an alternative to the newly renamed Lightning Lane Multi Pass.

The Premier Pass grants the user one-time entry to each available Lightning Lane at each Disneyland theme park, which is useful if you are on a time crunch or have the extra cash to spend. Negating the need to make reservations and use the Disneyland App nonstop, this pass simplifies the Lightning Lane process, albeit for $400 a person.

Other features include unlimited PhotoPass digital downloads and augmented reality photo lenses on the day of purchase. The turnaround since the initial announcement has been a whirlwind, so, unsurprisingly, we learned quite a bit during our first day using the Premier Pass.

What shocked us the most was how truly simple it was to use! You get one pass barcode for all attractions and you technically don’t even have to select the attraction in the app — just scan in when you get to the Lightning Lane and it will all link back to the same barcode.

Another thing that surprised us is that it’s essentially no different than the other Lightning Lane options in function once you’ve actually scanned into the line. There’s no “front of the line” access with Premier Pass, it just allows you to enter any of the Lightning Lanes once per day without having to schedule a time or mess with the Disneyland app to do so.

We were also shocked by how unrestricted we felt as we were using Premier Pass. With Single Pass and Multi Pass, you’re beholden to the times available in the app — and that’s IF you’re able to secure a Lightning Lane for those rides and they aren’t already sold out yet. We wouldn’t be shocked if folks with Premier Pass were easily able to ride everything in Disneyland and Disney California Adventure all in one day, either.

In our experience, each ride was a near walk-on — but our reporter who tested things out for us noted that this day didn’t seem to be particularly crowded overall. Things could be different on the day you visit, but the sheer fact that you’re able to stroll into a Lightning Lane without having to worry about scheduling and timing is huge if you ask us!

The current version of the Lightning Lane Premier Pass is limited and booking is allowed two days prior to use at 7AM PT. Through December 31st, 2024, the price will stay at $400 per person but may fluctuate between $300 and $400 depending on the date at the start of the new year.
