Disneyland Surveying Guests About Potential Oogie Boogie Bash Haunted Maze

A survey sent to Disneyland Resort guests suggests they’re considering adding a haunted maze and other entertainment to Oogie Boogie Bash.

Oogie Boogie Bash Haunted Maze?

A person in a green, lumpy costume stands on a stage surrounded by neon lights and spooky decor, including skull images and a sign that reads “Love.” A person in formal attire is visible in the background, capturing the eerie ambiance of Oogie Boogie Bash 2024. Disney is considering adding an Oogie Boogie Bash haunted maze.

A guest recently shared a page of the survey in a Magic Key Holders Facebook group. The last question asked about their level of interest in things that they might want Disney to add to Oogie Boogie Bash, which is a set of separately ticketed after-hours Halloween parties held annually at Disney California Adventure.

The list includes:

  • Haunted maze
  • Hocus Pocus stage show
  • More Halloween themed entertainment (shows, parades, fireworks, etc.)
  • Shorter wait times for rides
  • More Halloween themed rides
  • More Disney Villains for photo ops/sightings
  • More Character Sightings photo locations
  • Nightmare Before Christmas stage show
  • More rare/uncommon characters
  • More Characters roaming around the Park

The haunted maze in particular stands out as Disney already offers versions of most of the other items. Oogie Boogie Bash features rare Disney Villains and other characters on trick or treat trails, as well as the Frightfully Fun Parade. At Disneyland, the “Halloween Screams” fireworks are performed nightly during the fall and The Haunted Mansion gets a “Nightmare Before Christmas” overlay, transforming into the Haunted Mansion Holiday.

The “Hocus Pocus” stage show would likely be the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular performed at Walt Disney World for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. A “Nightmare Before Christmas” stage show could be a version of the sing-along that debuted at Disney Jollywood Nights, also at Walt Disney World, in 2023.

Haunted mazes are a popular offering at Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights and Knott’s Scary Farm. Though a Disney haunted maze probably wouldn’t be as gory or scary as those at Universal and Knott’s, there is plenty of mildly scary Disney material to choose from, including “Hocus Pocus” and “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”

Villains Grove Oogie Boogie Bash 2023 33

The closest thing currently to an Oogie Boogie Bash haunted maze is the Villains Grove. This walkthrough experience turns the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail into an eerie, magical space inspired by Disney Villains. The attraction is mostly achieved through lighting and sound effects — there are very few props and sets, and no characters.

Disneyland does offer the Ghoul House haunted maze, also in the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail, to their Cast Members once a year.
