FULL TOUR of Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree at Disneyland

Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamobree, a Country Bears re-theme of Hungry Bear Restaurant, is now open in Disneyland park.

Hungry Bear Restaurant closed in early July, reportedly for kitchen refurbishments. Disney later announced the reimagining inspired by the Country Bears. The bears once appeared at Disneyland for the Country Bear Jamboree, which opened on March 4, 1972. The attraction closed on September 9, 2001, to be replaced by The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Though the bears haven’t played at Disneyland Resort in over 20 years, the resort has been embracing their history, such as with Big Al statue installed at Disney California Adventure.

People gather outside the Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree entrance, surrounded by trees and a wooden deck.

The Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree soft opened on Thursday, October 24 before its official opening on Friday. It’s located in Bayou Country — the former Critter Country that was renamed in honor of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. The area was once known as Bear Country when it housed the Country Bear Jamboree.

A ramp leads up to the quick-service restaurant. It has covered outdoor seating. The patio roof is lined with red, white, and blue bunting.

A wooden bear figure leans against a sign that reads "Hungry?" in a theme park setting with a crowd of people in the background.

A sculpture next to the ramp depicts a beaver with a carved sign reading “Hungry?” This was already part of Hungry Bear Restaurant’s theming.

The menu features “regional barbecue dishes the Country Bears discovered while on tour.” These include specialty sandwiches, ribs, brisket, banana pudding, and funnel cake fries. Stay tuned for our reviews.

There is an allergy-friendly menu.

Cast Members have a new costume, which one told us was lighter and more comfortable than the old Hungry Bear costume. They have aprons with a wood grain pattern and an image of Ursus H. Bear, the founder of Country Bear Jamboree. On the backs of their green jackets is a mural of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure with a bear and beehive. It reads, “A Honey of a Place.”

Guests order at podiums then pick up their food at the counter. There are brown and beige umbrellas for shade in this area.

Behind the counter, where Cast Members get food, is a faux wood sign. It reads “Thanks for buzzin’ by, enjoy your vittles!” A painting of some of the Country Bears eating is in the center and bees are around the words. This sign actually existed before the reimagining.

Condiments, napkins, and cutlery are available at the “Fixin’s” bar.

The offerings include hot smoky barbecue sauce (red bottle), “golden sauce” (yellow bottle), and classic barbecue sauce (brown bottle). Ranch and ketchup is also available.

On the walls of the seating area are portraits of several Country Bears. The portraits reflect their updated Country Bear Musical Jamboree looks. The new Country Bears show debuted at Magic Kingdom this summer.

Hanging near Teddi Barra’s portrait is her floral swing.

Wooden fence with a painted image of a bear in chef attire. Text reads "Ursus H. Bear, Grr-ill Master, 1848-1928." Decorative elements hint at the Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree.

There’s a mural of Ursus H. Bear that calls him the “Grr-ill Master.” It’s similar to a portrait of Ursus from Grizzly Hall but he’s depicted wearing a chef’s hat instead of a top hat.

Decorative elements include this sign featuring pinecones and a flower.

People dining outdoors at the Hungry Bear Barbecue's shaded patio area with tables and chairs, surrounded by lush greenery, enjoy a festive jamboree atmosphere.

The seating is shaded with green and brown tarps. There are lanterns hanging among the shades.

A bear sculpture holding onto the corner of the building is adjusting a Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree sign. The sign includes a beehive with bees.

A busy outdoor café bustles under a leafy canopy, reminiscent of a lively Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree. A man stands in the center, clapping, while others are joyfully engaged in conversation.

Some of the restaurant’s columns look like tree trunks.

People sitting on a riverside porch at the Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree, with a lantern above, overlooking a river surrounded by trees under a clear blue sky.

Guests have a view of the Rivers of America. They might see the Sailing Ship Columbia or Mark Twain Riverboat passing by.

Signs point guests downstairs where there is more seating and restrooms.

People sitting at outdoor cafe tables, some using phones, with trees and sunlight in the background, enjoy delicious bites from Hungry Bear Barbecue. The scent of smoky flavors mingles with the lively chatter of a spontaneous jamboree.

The seating is made up of cushioned chairs that resemble unfinished wood and circular tables.

The restrooms are labeled “Teddi Barra’s Powder Room” and “Gomer’s Gentleman’s Lair.” These Country Bear references also existed before the recent retheme.

A wooden "Restrooms" sign with a cartoon character design, reminiscent of a Hungry Bear, is attached to the building. Amidst trees and a clear blue sky, it sets the scene for a delightful visit to the Barbecue Jamboree.

Hanging from the ceiling next to the nearby walkway is a sign pointing to the restrooms. It features Randy the Skunk, a character from the Country Bear Vacation Hoedown overlay.

At the Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree, two portable charger rental stations with touchscreens stand ready. A person with a backpack is eagerly interacting with one machine, ensuring they're charged up to capture and share every delicious moment of the event.

There are two FuelRod stations downstairs, too.

Amidst the lush greenery and a wooden bridge, people stroll by as a man enjoys his drink under a sheltered area at the Hungry Bear Barbecue. Rope fencing lines the path, adding rustic charm to this lively outdoor scene.

Net fencing lines the lower patio.
