With the launch of Lightning Lane Premier Pass at Walt Disney World, we now know some details of the program not previously announced.
Lightning Lane Premier Pass Details
Lightning Lane Premier Pass allows guests one-time entry to every attraction in a park with Lightning Lane. As Disney stated when they announced Premier Pass, the Walt Disney World passes only offer Lightning Lane entry at one park per day. However, we now know that after purchasing your Premier Pass, you can modify it to select a different park — as long as you haven’t used the pass yet.
When you purchase Lightning Lane Premier Pass in the My Disney Experience app, you must select a date and then a theme park. Pricing varies depending on the date and park.
After checking out, your Premier Pass will show up under “My Day” in the My Disney Experience app. When you select it, you will see an option to “Modify Premier Pass.” Upon clicking that option, you’ll be prompted to select whose Premier Pass you are modifying. You can then choose a different date and/or a different theme park.
If you are choosing a more expensive date/park, you will have to pay the difference in price. If you modify to a less expensive date or park, you won’t receive a refund of the price difference.
You can only make these changes if you haven’t used Premier Pass to enter an attraction queue. It also doesn’t matter what park you initially enter.
So if you purchase Premier Pass for Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and then enter Magic Kingdom, you can still use Premier Pass at Animal Kingdom if you Park Hop later in the day. You cannot use it at Magic Kingdom.
If you enter Animal Kingdom, then change your mind and Park Hop to Magic Kingdom, you can modify your Premier Pass to Magic Kingdom as long as you didn’t use it at Animal Kingdom.
Once you have used Lightning Lane Premier Pass to enter an attraction’s Lightning Lane (i.e. you have tapped your ticket or MagicBand at the entrance), you cannot modify the Premier Pass.
Though Lightning Lane Premier Pass offers entry to every Lightning Lane attraction, guests can also buy Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass in addition to Premier. With Premier Pass, you can enter any attraction without selecting a return time, but you can only enter an attraction once. If you want to ride something multiple times without waiting in the standby queue, you will need to buy Multi Pass or Single Pass.
