Can you believe it? We’re finally here! Now we can take a trip down the bayou with Tiana and all of her friends at both Disney World and Disneyland!
If you remember, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opened in Disney World over the summer, and Disneyland’s version of the ride opened yesterday! Now that the attractions are complete on both coasts, we’ve actually got a hot take about the ride that you didn’t know you needed!
As we were saying, now that both rides are open, and we’ve been on both of them, we have a hot take that we want to share with you. “And what is that hot take?” I hear you asking. Our hot take is that the Disneyland version is hands-down superior.
Yes, you heard me right. The West Coast wins this round, so let’s talk about why.
It’s All About the Vibes
Let’s start with the obvious: Disneyland has New Orleans Square. The entire vibe screams jazz, gumbo, and that “Almost There” ambition.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure slides into this setting like powdered sugar on a beignet. It’s seamless. You can soak in some live music and practically feel the Louisiana humidity as you approach the ride.
Now compare that to Magic Kingdom. Sure, we love Frontierland, but it’s more yee-haw than bayou charm.
Now we’re all for tumbleweeds and cowboy aesthetics, but let’s just say that the setting in Disneyland doesn’t just work — it elevates the experience.
Designed With Disneyland in Mind
Now here’s something you may not have known: one of our reporters sat in on an Imagineering presentation, and guess what? The team openly admitted that the project was designed specifically with Disneyland in mind.
The ride was designed to integrate with the surroundings of New Orleans Square and Bayou Country. They envisioned it as an extension of Disneyland’s storytelling, weaving it into the area’s existing narrative. That means over at Magic Kingdom, it’s more of a retrofit, a “this should work” situation instead of the “this was meant to be” feeling you get at Disneyland.
It’s like designing a wedding dress for someone specific and then letting someone else borrow it. Sure, it’s still beautiful, but does it really feel right?
Pacing is Everything
And lastly, you know how the pacing is crucial for any attraction, right? Well, this is where Disneyland absolutely shines. The layout in California feels tight and intentional, with less of the “blank space” that Magic Kingdom sometimes struggles with.
We’ve seen a lot of complaints about empty spaces during the ride in the Disney World version of the ride that affects its pacing. None of that feels apparent at Disneyland. You’re swept up in Tiana’s story without unnecessary lulls breaking the rhythm.
Disneyland Has the Crown
At the end of the day, both versions will have their magic, and we’re lucky to have a ride celebrating such an iconic Disney princess, but if you’re asking where the best vision of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure lives, It’s Disneyland, hands down.
