The global health crisis has caused a “pause” in many industries, especially in entertainment.
When we consider how many people tend to crowd onto a film set, it’s no surprise that the film industry has been hit pretty hard by the cancellations. Now, it seems that productions may be able to pick up again. California Governor Gavin Newsom announced that TV and film production can begin again on June 12th, marking the official return of Hollywood.
The California Department of Public Health and the Governor’s Office made a statement that June 12th should be the earliest date for the return of film production, subject to approval from local county public health officers.
The statement notes that “production, cast, crew, and other industry workers should abide by safety protocols agreed by labor and management, which may be further enhanced by public health officers. Back office staff and management should adhere to Office Workspace guidelines published by the California Department of Public Health and the California Department of Industrial Relations.”
Hollywood’s return is set to change the industry up to keep actors and workers safe. Several health measures have been discussed including closed sets, sanitation practices, and more. We’ll keep you informed on the return of Disney film production and what sort of health measures they put in place.
