The one thing you can’t plan for or control is the weather…especially if you’re traveling to Central Florida.
Orlando International Airport
A sudden downpour can happen at any time, even when you’re in Disney World, and storms can even close rides (and sometimes close the parks). You also can’t plan for weather issues when you book your flight, meaning that flight delays can happen. Well, today, March 30th, is one of those days, and the weather has officially brought flights into and out of Orlando International Airport to a halt, meaning a LOT of flights are currently delayed.
According to FlightAware, over 450 flights have been delayed at Orlando International Airport with six flights reported as “canceled.”

According to Fox 35, this is because a ground stop has been issued at Orlando International Airport due to weather. The hold is issued until 4:15 PM, and the probability of it being extended beyond that is medium, depending on how severe the storms are this afternoon.

That means if you are flying into and out of Orlando today, you can expect your flight to be delayed. Even after the ground stop is lifted, flights will remain delayed for a while as they try to get caught up from the current delays. So, if you’re traveling to Disney World, pack your patience today!

If you are flying today, be sure to pack extra things to do, like a good book or a device with Disney+ on it. You’ll also want to make sure you have a way for your airline to notify you if there are changes to your flight — we suggest downloading your airline’s app and signing up for text notifications, if available.
