With new lands and rides coming to Disney Parks, it often means some of our favorite attractions will be closed, even if it’s just temporarily.
If you’re heading to Disneyland or Disney World this year, be aware that a classic ride might be under the weather while you’re in the parks. While there are plenty of other attractions to enjoy in the meantime, you’re allowed to be sad you can’t ride Big Thunder Mountain 1000x on your trip. Here are the rides that are or will be closed during 2025.
Disney World
Currently Closed
The Hall of Presidents
The Hall of Presidents in Magic Kingdom closed in January this year and has no reopening date other than “later in 2025.”
Astro Orbiter
Our spinning rockets are closed for a refurbishment but are set to open in summer 2025.
Test Track
Over in EPCOT, Test Track has been undergoing a new transformation and is planning on reopening in 2025.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
The wildest ride in the wilderness will be closed all of 2025 and will open sometime in 2026 with “new magic.”
Voyage of the Little Mermaid
While this show never returned after the 2020 closures, it is currently being reimaged as The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure, which will start in Hollywood Studios on May 27th, 2025.
Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy
We’re so sorry, Cars fans! This show closed down to make way for Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After, which will also start on May 27th, 2025.
Planning to Close
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
Buzz will close in August and open sometime in 2026. It will be renovated with new blasters, vehicles, and targets, and it looks like a truly updated experience.
MuppetVision 3D
Closing permanently June 7th, we’re saying good bye to Kermit as the gang as they move to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and leave Muppets Courtyard open for Monsters, Inc. land. No dates announced on this project yet.
