The 30 HARDEST Disney Choices We’ve Had to Make Over the Last 30(ish)Days

Disney loves to give us difficult decisions to make.

Magic Kingdom

From which UNIQUE piece of merchandise to spend our money on, to how best to get ourselves on Rise of the Resistance; we’re taking a look at the 30 hardest Disney choices we’ve had to make in the last 30 days!

1. Which pair of new ears should we buy?

First up, Disney has been ROLLING out the ears since reopening. Maybe there was a bit of a backlog due to the park closures?? Whatever the reason, we are SO HAPPY about the variety of choices, and therefore pretty bummed that our pocketbooks don’t want us to get them all! 😉

Emerald Minnie Ears

It felt like we were spotting new pairs of ears every couple of days for a while there! We even found the most OMG PIZZAAAAA Ears!

PIZZA EARS!

What ELSE, you ask? We’re talking Emerald Minnie Ears, Yellow Velvet Minnie Ears, Mickey Glove Ears, Faux Leather Mickey Ears, Midnight Magic Minnie Ears, Lilac Minnie Ears, Halloween Candy Minnie Ears, Up Minnie Ears, Macaron Minnie Ears, Christmas Peppermint Ears, Gingerbread Ears, and many more. What? You thought we were kidding? No wonder the choice is so difficult!

2. Should we buy another piece of Haunted Mansion merchandise?

Speaking of things that have put a hampering on our wallet, we’ve been limited by our funds when it comes to all of the cute Haunted Mansion merchandise that has come out. Every time we see a new Grim Grinning Ghost-inspired merch item, we’re stuck with the difficult question — should we buy it? (You really don’t want to know the number of times we’ve said yes!)

Haunted Mansion Crocs

There’s been lots (and we mean LOTS) of Haunted Mansion merchandise hitting the shelves recently. Maybe it’s because we just had Halloween, or maybe Disney just knows we’re suckers for all things with an aura of foreboding. We’ve definitely had our favorites, but boy, has it been hard to pick!

3. Which pumpkin spice treat do we go for first?

Alright, this choice is one that we recognize. We have to come to a decision about this one every single year! The choice in question? Which pumpkin spice treat do we go for first? If you’ve kept an eye on Disney during the fall season, you know they LOAD US UP with the pumpkin spice options (no complaints here!).

Pumpkin-spiced Mickey Waffle Sundae

Have no fear, because we WERE able to make this decision — and you helped! Readers voted the Pumpkin-spiced Mickey Waffle Sundae from Sleepy Hollow as the BEST Disney World Halloween-time snack! Still, we have to make this decision pretty much EVERY time we go into the parks, and with so many great pumpkin treats, that makes things difficult (thankfully [or not!] we get a reprieve soon with a sea of gingerbread and peppermint goodies for Christmas!).

To see our review on this pumpkin-spiced treat, click here!

4. Should we just book all of our Disney Park Passes for Hollywood Studios so we can ride Rise of the Resistance over and over and over again?

Okay, so navigating the Disney Park Pass system for theme park reservations in Disney World has been a whole new beast (and not the nice kind with an enchanted rose). Being limited to just ONE park with no park hopping, AND the need for the Disney Park Passes, the planning phase is a bit more stressful than it used to be.

Rise of the Resistance

One tough decision we’ve been running into lately? Should we just book all of our Disney Park Passes in Hollywood Studios so we can ride Rise of the Resistance over and over and over again? Hey, it’s a GREAT ride. We wish we could tell you it’s not the great and to spend your time and stress in Disney World elsewhere but…it’s the bomb diggidy, y’all. It’s as good as you could hope! Plus, with guests only being allowed to ride Rise of the Resistance once per day, you’d NEED multiple days in Hollywood Studios to ride again. We’re just sayin’…

You can get your Boarding Group OUTSIDE of Hollywood Studios now! Click here to learn more!

5. Which mask should we wear in the parks?

If you would have told us a year ago that we’d be deliberating between which face mask to wear in the Disney parks, we would have told you that you were crazy. At the time, Disney didn’t allow face coverings of any kind. Oh, how the times have changed!

Au Revoir Mask

Now, you’re REQUIRED to wear a face mask in Disney World at all times, unless you’re in a relaxation station or stationary while eating or drinking. And boyyy, do we have lot of mask options! Masks are basically the new Minnie Ears in terms of cute accessories you need to have in the parks! There are Disney’s face masks that come in all sorts of fun designs, comfy options from Amazon, and (of course) the adorable and comfy DFB face masks!

With plenty of fun designs to choose from, you’ll be ready for that Disney vacation in style! PLUS, $1 from each mask sold donated to No Kid Hungry!

6. Which Halloween popcorn bucket do we buy?

Back to another one of those spend-y decisions. The Halloween season has been an exciting one, and you know what the holidays in Disney mean…it’s time for specialty popcorn buckets babyyyyy. And Disney had us spoiled with choices this year!

Oogie Boogie Popcorn Bucket

We’ve seen the Cauldron Popcorn Buckets, the Happy Halloween Popcorn Bucket, the Oogie Boogie Popcorn Bucket, and the Mickey Pumpkin Balloon Popcorn Bucket. That’s not even COUNTING all the sippers and snack carriers! So, how do we decide which to buy? Spoiler — we got em all! Now, we’ve got our sights set on the Christmastime popcorn buckets!

7. Should we quit our jobs to go work at Gideon’s Bakehouse?

We love our jobs at DFB. Like, a LOT. But every once in a while we see something that makes us wonder, “What if?”. That happened last month when we noticed that Gideon’s Bakehouse is hiring. Well, gosh. DO we quit our jobs to go work at Gideon’s Bakehouse? As you might’ve guessed, we opted to stick around, but it was still a difficult choice!

Gideon’s Bakehouse With Its New Sign

Gideon’s Bakehouse is an upcoming bakery in Disney Springs that serves quite possibly the GREATEST cookie in Disney World (or possible on planet EARTH!). We used to have to try to snag these before they sold out each day at The Polite Pig, but soon (in 2020!) we’ll be able to hop in line for the glorious Gideon’s Bakehouse HALF-POUND Chocolate Chip Cookie at the new location!

8. Do we pay for Mulan premium access or wait for it to release to everyone on Disney+?

This one is probably a choice that many of you have had to deal with, too! As you probably know, Disney’s live-action Mulan was released on Disney+ early last month in a new premium access model. The blockbuster won’t be available to everyone on Disney+ until December.

©Disney

Of course, that meant we had to decide: pay the $30 to watch it now, or wait and watch it in December with our existing Disney+ subscriptions? Like many of you, we’re still spending a majority of our time pacing the floors in our house trying to keep kids entertained so this was a no-brainer for the parents on our team! Overall, some of our team decided to splurge and some decided to save. It’s a viable choice either way!

9. Who is more of a 2020 mood: Goofy or Elsa?

LOL! This next one on the list might just be the FUNNIEST choice we’ve had to make in the last 30 days, but that doesn’t mean it’s an easy one. Earlier this month, a malfunction on Frozen Ever After left Elsa looking a little sleepy and well…bored when she would typically be belting out “Let It Go.” Then, a few days later, Goofy looked like he wasn’t having the best day in Disneyland Paris. Goofy was OVER. IT.

©Imanoudlp Twitter

Seeing these two beloved characters looking a little out of their elements definitely gave us a chuckle. Hey, we’ve certainly felt the same way during this crazy year! So we had to decide, who is more of a 2020 mood? Honestly, we still haven’t picked.

10. Do we get quick service or chance the new Walk-up Waitlist?

We’re typically always game for a new Disney dining feature (especially when it helps us eat safely in a reopened Disney World!), but one of the recent new options left us with a somewhat difficult decision. What do we do if we don’t have an Advance Dining Reservation? Do we get quick service or chance the new Walk-up Waitlist?

Walk-up Waitlist

Disney released the new Mobile Dine Walk-up Waitlist and we’re pretty excited about it. This feature allows you to get your name on the list for select table service locations via the My Disney Experience app. You don’t even have to go to the restaurant, just be nearby! With a couple clicks, you can see all available restaurants at your fingertips! Pretty cool.

Click here to see some of the dining locations available on the Walk-up Waitlist!

11. Which Mexico Pavilion guacamole is best?

This is another one that might seem a little silly, but when you’re as serious about food as we are, these things can get heated. On one warm September day, we were struck with a realization — Epcot’s Mexico Pavilion has THREE different guacamoles…and we HAD to pick a favorite.

Guacamole from the Mexico Pavilion

So, yes, we sat down and had guacamole from La Cava del Tequila, Choza de Margarita, and La Cantina de San Angel. It was a tough choice, but ultimately, after much deliberation, we went with the guac from Choza de Margarita!

12. Which modified character dining meal do we go to?

One super interesting aspect about the reopening of Disney World has been the modified character meals. Prior to the parks reopening, Disney mentioned that most character interactions, including character dining, would be suspended. Now, we’ve seen a few character meal options pop back up.

Mickey and Pluto!

We’ve recently chowed down with Mickey and his pals at Disney’s Riviera Resort’s Topolino’s Terrace — Flavors of the Riviera and Garden Grill at Epcot. Plus, you can dine with Disney pals at Ravello in the Four Seasons Orlando, and you can see the Beast strolling around Be Our Guest in Magic Kingdom. You can even spot a socially distanced Cinderella at reopened Cinderella’s Royal Table in Magic Kingdom! Characters are also BACK (in their seasonal best) at Hollywood and Vine in Disney’s Hollywood Studios and characters will return to Chef Mickey’s soon! So, when we’re looking to dine with some familiar faces, where do we go?

13. Do we go to Disney World at all in November or just stay home and watch Freeform’s Countdown to Christmas?

We love the holiday season. It’s truly the jolliest — and possibly the most fun — time of the year! One exciting event that we look forward to every year is causing us to have to make a very difficult choice. And no, we’re not talking about Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (we’ll miss ya this year!).

©Freeform

We’re talking about Freeform’s Kickoff to Christmas! We can’t wait to watch the classics like Home Alone and The Santa Clause over…and over…and OVER. We just have to decide, do we go to Disney World at all in November or just stay home and watch Freeform’s Kickoff to Christmas? Both? Maybe both.

Click here to check out Freeform’s Kickoff to Christmas!

14. Do we trust the ride wait times or not?

Even in normal times, we tend to wonder whether the wait times we’re seeing at ride entrances and on the My Disney Experience app are accurate. Now, with the short and wonky wait times that we’re seeing in a reopened Disney World, we’re wondering even more so!

Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom

Well, instead of taking our best guess, we did our research! It seems that the most common case is that the listed wait time is either accurate or slightly LONGER than the amount of time that we actually waited! We won’t complain about waiting 20 minutes when the wait time says 40 minutes. Interesting! It seems like we can trust posted wait times, most of the time.

15. Will we still use MagicBands when they’re not free?

Disney has been surprising us pretty regularly with announcements about health and safety measures and plans going forward. For one, we were definitely surprised by the fact that the free MagicBands will be discontinued in 2021. Instead, we’ll be relying on our phones to get us in and out of the parks and our rooms OR continuing to use MagicBands by either resuing old ones or purchasing new ones.

Park Life MagicBands at Disney Pin Traders at Disney Springs

So, we had to decide, will we still use MagicBands when they’re not free? It’s hard to say. You can still use old MagicBands so we may do that, but maybe we’ll like using the app better? MagicBands are super easy and convenient though.  Luckily, we don’t actually need to decide quite yet (we have til January of 2021!).

16. Which Disney World resort discount works best for our trip?

Here’s another decision that we actually enjoy making — and we look forward to helping YOU make this decision, too! Disney released a whole new round of discounts for resort hotels, and we need to take a look at which one works the best for our trips!

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

You could save up to $500, or maybe you could save 30% off if you’re from a participating state. Annual Passholders get a special rate, too! The moral of the story is, when discounts come out, make sure to look into them! Based on the discount details and your situation, you’ve gotta decide which is best for YOU!

Click here to see the recent Disney World hotel discounts!

17. Are we excited about the Moana makeover at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort or not?

We haven’t really made our final decision on this next choice yet. We’ll need to see more of the finished project before we do! But, we’re wondering, are we excited about the Moana makeover at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort or not?

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Disney announced at the end of last month that Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will remain closed into 2021 to make room for a Moana-themed refurbishment to the hotel. The Poly has had a few facelifts over the years (who’s still salty about the removal of the waterfall in the lobby??), and while we’re decidedly NOT happy that we won’t be staying in the Polynesian for so long, we could end up loving its new look.

18. Which new attraction are we looking forward to the most?

Okay, this one isn’t a new decision from the past month, but it IS one that we’re constantly deliberating. Disney has a lot of new attractions coming soon, so which one are we looking forward to the MOST?

TRON Lightcycle Run Construction

TRON Lightcycle Run is coming to Magic Kingdom, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure are coming to Epcot, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is coming to Disneyland, AND another entirely new land, Avengers Campus, is coming to Disney California Adventure. How do we pick?!

19. Which Minnie Mouse: The Main Attraction merch do we buy before it sells out?

2020 has been a roller coaster of a year, and January seems like it was ages ago. Still, we remember how excited we were when Disney first announced the new monthly attractions-based collectible series, Minnie Mouse: The Main Attraction.

Minnie Mouse: The Main Attraction

Now, with interruptions to Disney’s merchandise sales AND Disney vowing they’d have no more limited-release merch drops in both the parks and brick and mortar Disney Stores, we’ve had to turn to the wild world of MerchPass online. While this system has proven unreliable in the past, we’ve ALSO had the unique situation of spotting some of these monthly online exclusives in sudden and unannounced drop in the parks! So, when we didn’t nab our favorite thing in the first release online, we’ve gotten a second chance. They even recently hosted a Passholder event for early access to the Haunted Mansion edition of the series. The only question: which piece of Minnie Mouse: The Main Attraction merchandise do we buy? (Still VERY excited to see the Castle collection for December!)

Click here to learn about Minnie Mouse: The Main Attraction restocks!

20. Which NBA team do we rep?

Of course, one of the biggest news items for the past few months has been the fact that the NBA playing out the remainder of its 2020 season in Disney World, in what everyone called the Disney NBA “bubble.” We had a blast keeping up with news from inside the bubble, as well as the games, but this news came with a difficult choice.

NBA Merchandise at World of Disney

The NBA’s tenure in Disney World meant that a BUNCH (and we mean a BUNCH) of Disney/NBA merchandise dropped online and in stores. So, when we were shopping around, we had to decide which team we were gonna rep with our new merch!

21. What park are we going to pick to celebrate Christmas?

Christmas is sure to be a little strange this year with all of the health measures and cancellations. But, that doesn’t change the fact that there should be a little bit of Christmas cheer in all four of the Disney parks! So, which one do we spend our December 25th in? It’s hard to say!

Sweet as sugar!

EPCOT is hosting the annual Festival of the Holidays this year and there’s still plenty of festive fun at each of the four parks so the choice is yours!

Click here to see what menus you’ll find at EPCOT’s Festival of the Holidays!

22. Do we try something new at Starbucks, or just get the Pumpkin Spice Latte again?

Yes, we are talking about pumpkin spice again. Look, it’s officially fall, okay? So just, like, let us have this one. ALSO, we need your help deciding! When we’re fueling up for our park days, should we snag something new at Starbucks, or just get the Pumpkin Spice Latte again (we’ve had…a lot.)?

PSL & Cinderella Castle…what could be better?

We have to make this decision pretty much every day. We’ll be honest, most of the time we’ve just been choosing that yummy PSL, or the arguably yummier Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew. But until the siren song of the Peppermint Mocha calls our name, we bleed pumpkin. Can you blame us?

Click here to see more on the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte!

23. Is it too early to celebrate Christmas?

Here’s a controversial one. Is it too early to celebrate Christmas? We only ask because we’ve actually already WAY more than a few signs of Christmas in the Disney parks, even as we’ve learned about the cancellation of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.

It’s Beginning to Look a LOT Like Christmas!

As is tradition, Christmas in Disney World basically starts before the last Jack-o-lantern candle has been blown out. November first may still be full of remnants of ghosts and goblins for most people but at Disney, it’s FA-LA-LA time. We’re talkin’ TREES, TREATS, and more! We’ll take a little holiday spirit any time of the year, and if that means drinking out of our Sven Sipper or sipping on a Christmas-y latte, then so be it.

Want to celebrate Christmas early? Click here!

24. Do we go out to eat or order room service?

Sooo, this choice is only hard because we weren’t expecting to have to make it. When the Disney World resorts first reopened, room service was unavailable at the hotels. Then, suddenly, we noticed that room service had returned to Disney’s Yacht Club Resort when it reopened!

Room Service, Anyone?

So, we suppose our question is: do we go out to eat or order room service? Of course, most of the hotels still aren’t offering this option yet, but we think room service is a pretty attractive option when it comes to the current health and safety concerns when dining out. Plus, dinner in your jammies is WAY comfier.

To learn more about room service in a reopened Disney World, click here!

25. Which returning Dole Whip Float should we get?

Dining menus have been pretty limited since the Disney parks reopened, but we are slowly but surely regaining some of our missing favorites. When the parks first reopened, we were bummed to find that several of our favorite Dole Whip Floats were missing!

Kakamora Float

Now, with two of our favorites returned (we’re talking to you Kakamora Float and I Lava You Float!), we have a tough choice to make. Which returning Dole Whip Float should we get? (Kakamora, obv. 😉 )

Click here to see our favorite returning Dole Whip Floats!

26. Should we try for a Rise of the Resistance Boarding Group from bed or risk it at 2PM in the park?

Ah those were the days. Waking up at 3AM to get to Hollywood Studios in time to get ready for the Rise of the Resistance virtual queue to drop for the day. STRESS CITY! We had to be IN the park BEFORE opening to even try. BUT NOW, Disney has an alternative — we can, with a park ticket and valid Park Pass reservation, try for a boarding group from ANYWHERE we like at 7AM EST each morning! So what to do? Try for one in the comfort of our bed in the morning or risk it at the second drop at 2PM that afternoon??

Rise of the Resistance

And we actually do think this choice has a RIGHT answer, unlike some of the other ones on this list. When in doubt, try for that first shot at a boarding group. Why not, right? If you’re planning to be in the park that day, go for it at 7AM from WHEREVER you like. If you don’t get it, you still have that second chance at two!

Want to see EVERYTHING you need to know about Rise of the Resistance? Click here!

27. Which new Disney dress do we buy?

Say sorry to our wallets for us, because here is another one of those big merchandise decisions. Disney has been releasing some seriously stylish dresses inspired by some of our favorite films and attractions. So, which new Disney dress do we buy?

Coco Dress at The Dress Shop at Disney Springs

Between the Oogie Boogie Dress, the Coco Dress, the Tower of Terror Dress, the Minnie Mouse Dress, the Haunted Mansion Dress, and more, it’s pretty darn hard to choose. What’s your vote?

To see the Oogie Boogie Dress, click here!

28. Do we eat somewhere new or just go to Wine Bar George again?

Here’s another choice that comes up for us often, especially when we’re deciding on where to eat dinner in Disney Springs! We’re not kidding when we say that pretty much everyone agrees that Wine Bar George is the perfect restaurant. Seriously, it’s SO good, guys.

Saganaki on Fire

So, what do we do when we’re looking to dine in Disney Springs? Do we eat somewhere new or just go to Wine Bar George again? We think most of the time we’d opt for Wine Bar George. Mac and cheese bites. Burrata. Cheese ON FIRE. Nuff said.

Click here to see why we LOVE Wine Bar George!

29. Which Tower of Terror merch should we buy?

Oh gosh, remember when we mentioned that Tower of Terror Dress? It’s DEFINITELY not the only cute piece of Tower of Terror merch we’ve come across lately. Disney has a thing for pushing merch from their spookiest rides right now! First Haunted Mansion and also Tower of Terror! We recently came across possibly the CUTEST pair of ears recently with the Tower of Terror Bellhop Minnie Ears.

Tower of Terror Minnie Ears

And it’s not just the dress and the ears. We’ve also seen a Tower of Terror Water Bottle, a Tower of Terror T-shirt, a Tower of Terror Leggings, and a Tower of Terror Door Hanger, and MORE. So, which Tower of Terror merch should we buy?

Want to see the Tower of Terror Dress? Click here!

30. Which piece of Hocus Pocus merch should we buy?

And finally, we’re shaking out our wallets for one last merchandise decision on this list — and this one’s a doozy. October meant it was the season for Hocus Pocus merchandise, and it has us running “amuck, amuck, amuck!”

Hocus Pocus Spirit Jersey

We’ve had to decide: which piece of Hocus Pocus merch should we buy? After all, we’re definitely down to channel our favorite Sanderson Sister, or even all three! Winnie, Mary, and Sarah DESERVE cute merch. Better act fast though — this gear is all disappearing faster than someone can light the Black Flame Candle!

To see some of the CUTE Hocus Pocus merchandise, click here!

And there you have it! That’s ALL 30 of the hardest Disney choices we’ve had to make over the past 30 days. Did you get caught making one of these tough decisions? Let us know!
