Preview Center of Monsters Inc. Coaster, Cars Land, and Animal Kingdom Tropical Americas Now Open at Walt Disney World

Preview Center of Monsters Inc. Coaster, Cars Land, and Animal Kingdom Tropical Americas Now Open at Walt Disney World

Disney’s Hollywood Studios has a new preview center of Walt Disney World’s upcoming Monsters, Inc. land, Cars area, and Tropical Americas land.

Walt Disney Presents

Theater marquee displays "Walt Disney Presents: From Mickey Mouse to Walt Disney World and Beyond," nodding to Disney park history.

The preview is inside Walt Disney Presents, near the end of the gallery.

Exhibit displays Monsters, Inc. models and art with Sulley and Mike, suggesting a possible coaster like those in Disney parks.

Since 2021, this Walt Disney Imagineering Presents case housed a display dedicated to the Disney Cruise Line ship the Disney Wish. This display closed last month to make way for something new. It now has assets for the upcoming projects Monstropolis, Tropical Americas, and Piston Peak.

Monstropolis at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Glass case display featuring Monstropolis concept art and Sulley and Mike models from Monsters Inc. Coaster at a Disney park.

Monstropolis at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will debut the long-awaited Monsters, Inc. door coaster. The land replaces Muppets Courtyard including MuppetVision 3D, which closed this summer.

The door coaster will be Disney’s first vertical lift coaster and first suspended coaster.

Other attractions and offerings haven’t been officially announced, but concept art teases a reimagining of the MuppetVision 3D theater and PizzeRizzo. Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano is set to become Harryhausen’s. Though buildings of Muppets Courtyard will be reused, Stage 1 Company Store was completely demolished.

Tropical Americas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

A display case features a scale model of Animal Kingdom’s Tropical Americas, with lush trees and structures—no castle present.

Tropical Americas is replacing DinoLand U.S.A. at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It will include the world’s first Encanto ride, a carousel of Disney animals, and an Indiana Jones ride. The latter will be a reimagining of DINOSAUR, which closes permanently next February.

Part of Tropical Americas will be the fictional village of Pueblo Esperanza, designed to feel lived-in. There will be a fountain that villagers gather around to tell stories. This model was first displayed at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.

According to the Pueblo Esperanza lore, the carousel was created by a local woodcarver. The ride seats represent various animals from beloved stories, including Kevin from Up.

The land will also have a playground to replace The Boneyard.

The Encanto ride will focus on the day Antonio received his gift of speaking to animals. Guests will enter Casita and ride vehicles made of furniture.

The Indiana Jones ride is expected to be similar to Indiana Jones Adventure at Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea but with a brand new story. DINOSAUR already uses the same ride system and a nearly identical ride track. It will take place in a Mayan temple, where Indy is investigating rumors of a mythical creature.

Tropical Americas is set to be completed in 2027.

Cars Area at Magic Kingdom

Display case with Cars Land models and concept art for Magic Kingdom Frontierland at a Disney exhibit, no castle images shown.

Piston Peak is an expansion to Frontierland in Magic Kingdom. The Cars area takes over the former site of Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island, which closed permanently in July.

Piston Peak is based on the Rocky Mountains and Imagineers have explained how it fits into Frontierland, representing one part of America. It will be designed with sightlines in mind. A “fun map” of the area revealed it will have water features and a barrel bridge paying homage to Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island.

It will have two attractions. One is an off-road rally race ride. The other will be a family attraction.

The area features an original character, Ranger J. Autobahn Woodlore, based on Ranger J. Audubon Woodlore from classic Disney cartoons.
