Disney World Honors Veterans With Special Sunrise Salute

On November 11th, we honor the veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces.

2019 Flag Retreat Ceremony

This year, Disney World paid tribute to veterans with a special salute that began at sunrise.

As the sun began to rise over Cinderella Castle this morning, Disney Cast Members held a special Veterans Day ceremony at Magic Kingdom. Honor Guards representing Disney’s security team, as well as members of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and Reedy Creek Fire Department, marched down Main Street to participate in the morning’s flag-raising ceremony.

Several days earlier, the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds marked the beginning of National Veterans and Military Families Month by flying over EPCOT. Disney captured video of that event:

Disney World has a long history of honoring veterans. The parks commemorate veterans during Armed Forces Day and other events paying tribute to the U.S. military. The parks also still have a daily flag retreat ceremony, and when the parks were closed, the flags were still raised and lowered every day.

We join Disney in thanking our U.S. military veterans for their service!
