Will Disney World Finally Fix This Awkward Bathroom Problem in Its New Park Expansion?!

Not to be weird, but I spend a lot of my time in Disney World bathrooms.

Tree of Life

When you visit the parks for your job, you’ll inevitably be exposed to a wide variety of public restroom experiences. I’ve been in pristine, clean bathrooms where I could nearly see my reflection in the floor, and I’ve been in bathrooms strewn with toilet paper and plagued by clogged pipes. Not all Disney World restrooms are created equal, that’s for sure. And recently, I took note of a very awkward toilet trouble that I’m hoping Disney fixes in its new land.

Planning guide for the ultimate Disney vacation

We’re getting ready to say goodbye to DinoLand, U.S.A., for good in Animal Kingdom, and while I am mourning the loss of my beloved DINOSAUR (and my even more beloved Dr. Grant Seeker), I will not be sad to see the Restaurantosaurus restrooms go after my recent visit there. These bathrooms are located inside Restaurantosaurus, but they have an exterior door that provides easy access for those looking for a restroom in the DINOSAUR area.

Restaurantosaurus

In the past, I’ve thought of these as a lovely bathroom experience. There are several stalls; they remain relatively clean, and they have the amazing soundtrack of DinoLand, U.S.A.’s radio station. Unfortunately, I’ve now come to realize that they have some of the skimpiest stall doors and walls across Disney World.

The outdoor restroom entrance

On my last pit stop here, there was a toddler in the stall next to me whose mother was giving a valiant effort to keep the child from crawling on the floor. When looking down to make sure I wasn’t about to get company crawling underneath my stall wall, I realized that said wall only comes about an inch lower than the top of the toilet seat. It’s perfect toddler temptation!

Hallway by the bathrooms

The door of the stall wasn’t much better — if someone bent down in front of the door to see if there were feet in the stall, they’d likely get a glimpse of my legs all the way to the knees! One wrong move and you could inadvertently expose yourself. The walls and doors were placed so high up that I’m convinced the shortest toddlers could simply bend at the waist and walk right underneath.

Entrance from the restaurant side

When pondering these thoughts during my bathroom visit, I started praying that Disney choose to fix this issue with the construction of Tropical Americas. The bathrooms will likely get a refresh themed to the new restaurant, and when that happens, I’m BEGGING for more robust privacy. In fact, I would be totally happy if we did full or near-full top-to-bottom walls and doors. I’ve heard that our skimpy stalls are often a source of awkwardness for visitors from overseas (where they have entire bathroom cubicles), and after this visit, I’m on their side.

@Disney

I know that cleanliness and safety are ultimately good reasons to keep the gap, but if we must, all I ask is that it be lowered to a more demure height. Hear my plea, Disney. A simple wish from a simple girl.
