One of the best places to grab a sweet treat in Disney World actually isn’t in any of the parks or even Disney Springs. It’s at one of the resorts.
Cake Bake Shop
Which is why we always make sure to take a trip over to Disney’s BoardWalk Inn to try out any new cakes released at the ever-popular Cake Bake Shop, so you can decide if a $22 cake slice needs to be on your Disney dessert bucket list.
We just stopped by The Cake Bake Shop to try the new limited-time Marshmallow Dream Cake for $22. This is classic French Valrhona chocolate cake filled with marshmallow buttercream, Callebaut Belgian chocolate ganache, and mini marshmallows.
A brand new Cake Bake Shop Cake
The marshmallow icing was soft, airy, and delicious. The mini glittery marshmallows inside the icing added a fun whimsy to the appearance, but didn’t taste as fresh as we were expecting. It tastes like there’s maybe a coating over them to keep them from falling flat in between the cake layers, which was not our favorite.
Marshmallow Dream Cake
The chocolate ganache is very thin underneath the marshmallows between each layer, but the ganache is dark chocolate and bitter, and it doesn’t match the marshmallow and light flavor of the rest of the cake. However, since it’s so thin, it does not come through in many bites.
Love the details in the icing!
The cake itself is plain chocolate cake and is pretty dry overall, which is not typical of a Cake Bake cake. It is very thick and honestly creates an odd consistency when combined with the fluffy frosting. Overall, this was not our favorite slice of cake we’ve tried at The Cake Bake Shop, but we think we might have just gotten a weird batch that has been sitting out for a bit.
