PHOTOS: We Waited in the Muppets Line…for Rise of the Resistance in Disney World Today

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance continues to be an incredibly popular ride, but it’s also still one of the most difficult ones to get on.

Rise of the Resistance

Today, we were lucky enough to get a Boarding Group (we were crossing ALL our fingers and toes) and we got called back to ride the attraction in the afternoon, but the line was already VERY long and eventually we ended waiting for Rise of the Resistance in part of ANOTHER attraction’s queue that was quite muppetsational!

Let’s start at the beginning. Early this morning, we used Disney’s NEW Boarding Group process and snagged Group #53 for Rise of the Resistance. Then, we made our way to Disney’s Hollywood Studios to enjoy our day in the park until it was our turn to ride.

Eventually, our group was called and at 4:40PM we got in line. At that time, the line was already SUPER long and stretched all the way back to courtyard area near Muppet*Vision 3D. We waited in line and eventually went through part of the regular Rise of the Resistance queue, but then we were redirected out a Cast Member door, into some backstage areas, and over to part of the extended queue for Muppet*Vision 3D!

All these guests? They’re not here to watch Fozzie do some “lame” 3D tricks! They’re all guests who are waiting to blast off on an intergalactic adventure and defeat the First Order.

Our assumption is that because Rise of the Resistance experienced some downtime earlier, that likely caused a backup in the number of groups that were allowed to board. Then, once the ride became operational again, many guests likely started returning and getting in line, and it was just too many people for the traditional Rise of the Resistance queue to handle with all the social distancing requirements.

The installation of plexiglass on the attraction also helps the attraction potentially increase the capacity of the ride, but that also means that ALL those guests must be accommodated if the ride is down for technical issues. During our time in line, Cast Members were even allowing guests to use backstage Cast Member restrooms if necessary, so that’s definitely a unique experience that only a few guests can say they’ve had. We ended up making our way back to the Rise of the Resistance buildings eventually and onto the ride. In total, our wait was about 50 minutes.

And the best part? We got to look at some fabulous posters for HIT films like Star Chores. May your purse be with you.

The actors really pushed themselves for these roles. Truly, Kermit’s performance as “the Frog” is one of the most memorable in all of cinema history.

It was a queue experience we weren’t expecting today, but it was interesting to see some backstage areas and see how these situations are being handled with the current social distancing requirements. We’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so be sure to come back for more updates!
