The social media account previously operated by former Disney executive Dr. Mark Penning is entering a new chapter.

In a video shared on Instagram, Dr. Mark Penning announced that his longtime social media account will transition to @AnimalsAtDisney following his retirement from The Walt Disney Company.

The account has become a popular source for updates on animal births, conservation efforts, veterinary care, and behind-the-scenes stories from across Walt Disney World and beyond. Over the years, Penning regularly highlighted the work of Disney’s animal care teams while sharing photos and videos of the thousands of animals cared for by Disney.

While the account’s name is changing, Disney indicated that the focus of the page will remain the same. Future posts will continue to spotlight Disney’s animals, animal care experts, conservation initiatives, and environmental stewardship efforts.

The transition follows Penning’s retirement from Disney earlier this year. Last month, it was announced that he would become the new director of the North Carolina Zoo.
