Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom is now closed for a major reimagining. Overnight, crews installed construction walls at the attraction’s entrance and exit.

Carousel of Progress Construction Walls

One gray wall with a door in its center is at the top of the ramps leading to the ride’s entrance. The Carousel of Progress sign is still uncovered and the show building is fully visible.

A plaque on the wall quotes the ride: “Well, that’s progress for you.”

The ramps themselves are only blocked by chains.

A wider wall blocks the exit ramps.

We may not see construction walls completely surround the Carousel of Progress building, unless Disney decides to create a longer queue or new facade for the attraction.

July 5 was the last day to experience the 1994 version of Carousel of Progress. Though it has seen many changes since its 1964 debut at the New York World’s Fair, this reimagining will be the biggest, shifting the timeline of the ride. Instead of beginning at the turn of the century, it will now begin in the ’60s.
