Tom Fitzgerald, Chief Storytelling Executive and Senior Creative Executive, has officially retired from Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) after 47 years of service.

Disney artist Eric Robison shared several photos on LinkedIn of the retirement party held for Fitzgerald at Walt Disney Imagineering this week.

A stage was set up with screens projecting the WED Enterprises logo and the text, “Tom Fitzgerald – A Celebration 47 Years In The Making.”

The party was well-attended and even featured in-person and digital character appearances from Winnie the Pooh, Kermit, and Miss Piggy.

Tom Fitzgerald joined Walt Disney Imagineering, formerly known as WED Enterprises, in January 1979. He then worked his way up to Chief Storytelling Executive and Senior Creative Executive at Walt Disney Imagineering, working on projects like Star Tours – The Adventures Continue, the 2006 revamp of Pirates of the Caribbean, and several others, including most recently, Soarin’ Across America.
