During technical rehearsals at Universal Studios Hollywood on Tuesday, a Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift train got stuck and had to be swung back into movement.

Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift Train Stalled

The train rolled back and was briefly stalled, as shared in an Instagram video by Theme Park Connect. Soon after, they shared a video of the train being swung on the track back and forth until it got enough momentum to continue the ride.

User @apex.coasters was apparently in the last car, commenting, “It was so awesome in the back row, on that third swing launch it gave crazy hangtime on the stall!!!!”

During technical rehearsals, it is not uncommon for rides to experience downtime and brief stops. Attractions are closely monitored during testing, and operations may pause while still being fine-tuned before their official opening.

Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift is now the fastest roller coaster in Universal’s global portfolio, reaching 72 mph across 4,100 feet of track. It was designed with sound-reduction technology, although it continues to generate complaints from nearby Toluca Lake residents, who said screams from test riders could be heard throughout their neighborhood.

Each train consists of four detailed cars inspired by vehicles from the Fast & Furious films: Dom’s Dodge Charger, Han’s Mazda RX-7, and two cars driven by Brian O’Conner. They’re complete with distinctive engine and braking sounds.

A version of Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift is also under construction at Universal Studios Florida.
