Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Cast Members appear to be getting a significantly darker—and considerably less festive—new look in 2026.

We first learned of the new costumes through an Instagram Reel shared by user partofbrookesworld.

The short video spotlighted a post in a private Facebook group, indicating the costume reference sheet had been posted to the Hub, Disney’s internal Cast Member website.

The costume preview includes two styles labeled “Look A” and “Look B.” Both use a short-sleeved dark shirt covered in a pattern of interlinked skeletons in shades of red, purple, and green.

Look A pairs the untucked shirt with dark green shorts. Look B tucks the same patterned shirt into straight-legged dark green trousers. Both styles also incorporate a collared white shirt as an underlayer. The preview for Look B also includes a plain black belt and a bow tie accessory, shown on the right edge of the preview image alongside a headband accessory intended for Look A.

The bow tie and headband feature a matching design reminiscent of bat wings in a light purple color, with two orange eyes positioned at their center.

The costumes retain the familiar Halloween palette of purple, green, and black, along with the party’s signature bat accessories. However, the overall presentation is substantially darker and more restrained than the longstanding Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party uniforms.

Those costumes combined green-and-purple bat-print shirts with bright yellow-and-orange plaid layers, purple skirts or trousers, and oversized bat headbands or bow ties. Their intentionally mismatched colors and patterns gave the Cast Members a playful, homemade Halloween appearance.

The early social media reception to the replacements has been largely negative. Users reacting to the circulated preview have similarly criticized the darker design, basic green bottoms, and loss of the colorful plaid elements that made the former costume immediately recognizable. Comments on the Instagram post range from “this can’t be” to “they look so sad” and “THEY ARE SO UGLY!!”

Disney has not yet publicly announced the Cast Member wardrobe change or shown the designs in any Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party marketing materials.

The first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party of 2026 will take place on August 7. The separately ticketed event continues on select nights through October 31, with trick-or-treating, Mickey’s Boo-to-You Halloween Parade, Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular, Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular, character appearances, and more. Several party dates have already sold out.
