Witchcraft, symbiotes, and time travel collide in the August update for Marvel Contest of Champions.
Agatha Harkness Enters the Contest
Marvel Contest of Champions is a mobile fighting game from Kabam that brings heroes and villains from across the Marvel Universe together in the Battlerealm. Players collect Champions, assemble teams, and participate in story quests, limited-time events, and competitive modes.
According to the game’s Version 58.0 release notes, Agatha Harkness will become available on August 13. The ancient witch has lived since before the Salem witch trials and possesses centuries of experience with dark and forbidden magic.
Although Agatha has served as a mentor to Scarlet Witch and worked with several Marvel heroes, her shifting allegiances frequently place her somewhere between ally and antagonist.
In battle, Agatha can steal Power with her basic attacks, gain Amplify effects, inflict Atrophy, and create an area-of-effect field with her first Special Attack. She can also copy or destroy certain Buffs, resist Cosmic opponents with Steadfast, and regenerate damage caused by Incinerate and Nova Flame.
Spider-Man (Symbiote) follows on August 27 with a major overhaul. This version of Peter Parker wears the living alien costume that would eventually become associated with Venom.
The updated Champion builds Energize, Expertise, and Vitality Buffs. His Special Attacks can activate Cruelty and an Evade effect that grants Regeneration when triggered. He can also stack Armor Breaks and use True Accuracy to counter opponents who rely on Evade or Auto-Block abilities.
Cable will receive his own refresh when the update launches on August 4. His revised abilities include complete Poison resistance, Degeneration effects applied with Heavy Attacks, improved Power efficiency, and Regeneration when crossing Power thresholds. Cable can additionally inflict Daunted and Incinerate through his Special Attacks.
“Maiden, Mother, Crone” Event Quest
The August Event Quest, “Maiden, Mother, Crone,” places Agatha alongside Wiccan and Nico Minoru as they investigate unexplained cases of “Symbiomancy,” an unusual combination of magic and symbiote power.
Agatha claims she wants to help the heroes uncover the source of the disturbances, but her long history of manipulation makes her motives difficult to trust. The investigation also brings the heroes into conflict with Spider-Man (Symbiote), who may not be the friendly neighborhood hero they expect.
Revenge of Legends
A new Revenge of Legends event begins on August 12. After spending years as one of the game’s most frequently defeated opponents, Winter Soldier assembles the bosses from Realm of Legends and challenges the Summoner to face them again with enhanced powers.
The main Revenge of Legends Quest unfolds across four weeks, introducing three or four bosses each week before culminating in a final gauntlet. Most of the event is temporary, although its concluding challenge will remain as permanent content.
A companion Retribution of Legends Side Quest also presents difficult weekly battles, but supplies players with beneficial custom Nodes to help counter the opposing Champions. Completing the available challenges can reward players with Ronan and other prizes.
The event’s second phase begins August 26 and includes Hero Shard Arenas, Arena Solo Events, seven-hour Login Crystals, a new Battlepass, profile pictures, and emotes.
Free Spider-Verse Champions for New Players
The Web of Chaos new-player giveaway offers 10 Spider-Verse Champions through a 14-day supply drop. Eligible players must create an account between July 27 at 5 p.m. PT and August 31 at 5 p.m. PT.

- Spider-Man (Pavitr)
- Mysterio
- Spot
- Spider-Woman
- Vulture
- Scorpion
- Spider-Man (Supreme)
- Agent Venom
- Spider-Punk
Players receive all 10 Champions and five 3-Star Crystals on the first day. Subsequent rewards include upgrade materials, Catalysts, ISO-8, Gold, Potions, Revives, an Awakening Gem, and a Nexus 4-Star Hero Crystal.
The August update will also continue the game’s Chronoserpent storyline with “Epilogue Part 2: Broken Lines” on August 12. The Summoner must battle Cerastes and Glykhan across unstable timelines while attempting to restore Carina Tivan. Completing the larger Epilogue storyline can eventually unlock Carina as a playable 7-Star Champion.
Marvel Contest of Champions is free to play on iOS, Android, PC, and Steam. The update follows July’s Summer of Spider-Man content, which introduced Hobgoblin, Black Tarantula, and several promotions tied to the wider Spider-Verse.
