Marvel Comics has revealed three more variant covers from a new Muppets variant series celebrating the 50th anniversary of The Muppet Show.
The Muppets Take On Marvel

The collection will accompany The Muppets Take the Marvel Universe #1, an oversized one-shot bringing Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, and their friends together with Marvel superheroes for the first time in a full crossover event.
Readers will see Rowlf the Dog kidnapped by Mojo, the X-Men villain known for his obsession with entertainment, ratings, and televised spectacle. This time, Mojo is apparently looking to launch a new streaming service, putting a very modern spin on his long-running media-satire gimmick.
To rescue Rowlf, Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Spider-Man, Black Panther, Wolverine, Emma Frost, and many more characters will team up for what Marvel is calling a “pop culture history-making adventure”.
Several other short crossover stories will also be featured in the one-shot, and we now have a first look at some of the new variant covers coming to the crossover series.

The first cover, illustrated by Nicoletta Baldari for Captain America #15, pairs Sam Wilson’s Captain America with the similarly named Sam Eagle. Wilson flies above the stern Muppet with his shield at his side, while broad red, white, and blue strokes fill the background.

Paco Medina’s cover for The Amazing Spider-Man #1000 takes Spider-Man backstage at the Muppet Theatre. The wall-crawler hangs upside down while grabbing a slice of pizza from a PizzaRizzo box as Rizzo the Rat eats another slice below.

Sweetums towers over Wolverine on Terry Dodson’s variant for Wolverine #28. Wolverine sits casually in an ornate chair while the large, shaggy Muppet raises his hands behind him.
Each revealed design bears a special The Muppet Show 50th anniversary emblem. Marvel has announced 10 Muppets variants across its September and October releases:
- September 2: Captain America #15, cover by Nicoletta Baldari
- September 16: The Amazing Spider-Man #1000, cover by Paco Medina
- September 16: Daredevil #7, artist to be announced

As detailed in our earlier coverage, the accompanying one-shot will feature several stories combining Marvel adventures with classic Muppet sketches.
In the main one-shot, Rowlf is kidnapped by Mojo, Muppet Labs welcomes Bruce Banner and Hank Pym, the Swedish Chef attempts to cure Clea, and Pigs in Space encounters Rocket Raccoon and Groot.
Writers contributing to the special include Chip Zdarsky, MacKenzie Cadenhead, Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Adam F. Goldberg, Ashley Allen, and Kyle Starks. Pete Woods, David Baldeón, Áthila Fabbio, E.J. Su, Paco Medina, and Mike Henderson are among the artists. The Muppets Take the Marvel Universe #1 is scheduled for release on September 23.
