What’s New at Disney’s Grand Floridian and Polynesian Resort: A Tiki Toddy, Trader Sam’s Merch, and Additional Outdoor Seating

Welcome back to the monorail loop!

Grand Floridian Lobby

We recently made a journey around the Seven Seas Lagoon. Let’s take a look at what’s new at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort!

Disney’s Grand Floridian Food Update

Grand Floridian Cafe

Disney has been providing additional outdoor seating to help with physical distancing and better airflow while dining. We’ve seen the Grand Floridian Cafe provide outside seating before and Disney recently pulled out the outdoor tables again. Guests have the option to eat outside if they choose to visit the cafe.

We’ll be on the lookout for more outdoor dining options!

Disney’s Grand Floridian Recreation Update

Holiday Ceramics Activity

Disney World resorts love to put on spontaneous activities or other special events for guests hanging around the resort. We recently saw Cast Members hosting an ornament decorating activity. The resort will host a Holiday Ceramics sale on Wednesday and Friday this week from 5:30PM-7:30PM at The Garden View Lounge.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Food Update

Captain Cook’s

We had a chance to try the Moana Cupcake! The cupcake is made with a vanilla base, topped with buttercream and shaved coconut, then filled with a coconut cream surprise!

It also comes with a Heart of Te Fiti fondant decoration! The cupcake is $5.99.

Pineapple Lanai

Hooray for Christmas drinks! The Dole Whip quick-service window is currently offering a Tiki Toddy. We recently had a Canadian Hot Toddy and this drink is a “Polynesian spin” on the classic drink too. Cranberry juice, lime juice, Gosling’s Black Seal Rum, and Falnernum is served warm for $13.

Tiki Toddy

This drink will keep you warm during the “cold” Florida winter.

Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace

Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto and the outdoor cocktail terrace remained closed after the resort reopened. We noticed today that the sign stating the terrace hours was removed. It’s unclear whether Disney is updating hours or it was removed for another reason!

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Construction Update

The Polynesian is undergoing a massive refurb. We’ve been keeping tabs on the construction progress and how it’s affecting the resort experience. This week, we got a look at the progress from the (currently closed) monorail station. You can see a lot of boards, tools, and work being done while you pass through the station.

We also noticed that both lobby elevators are now in operation. Only one was available when construction began.

Open Lobby Elevators

We’ll continue to make our way back for more construction updates!

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Merchandise Update

BouTiki

Some fan-favorite merchandise items have been restocked at the Polynesian! We found the Trader Sam’s t-shirts made it back on the rack. Like this beige deep-neck tee for $27.99

…and the burnt sienna shirt in the same design for $29.99.

We also spotted the incredibly popular Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room ornament! The attraction ornaments have been selling out quickly and the Tiki Room ornament has been especially difficult to keep on the shelves. Now you know where to find it!

That’s all for today! We’ll be back to take another trip around the lake real soon!
