The ongoing demolition of the Disneyland esplanade eastern side ticket booths continues, as aerial views show the concrete being removed strategically.
Ticket Booth Demolition
In mid-August, Disney announced that four ticket booths on the eastern side of the esplanade would be removed to accommodate construction of a new pedestrian bridge over Harbor Boulevard. These would join the two westside ticket booths already demolished to make room for the upcoming Porto’s Bakery in Downtown Disney, leaving only two ticket booths remaining in the esplanade.
Construction walls appeared the next day, and the 700-square-foot booths were removed soon after. This demolition was reflected in the Disneyland app as well, as shown in the above screenshot.
In our last update, we got an aerial view of the demolition, showing the complete removal of the ticket booths. Our reporter once again took a ride on the Disneyland Monorail to capture these overhead shots of the ticket booth demolition.
The two structures visible in the background outside the walls are the final two Disneyland ticket booths standing, located between the transportation hub and the entrance to Disney California Adventure. These last two ticket booths remain open, and guests can also purchase tickets in-person at the Lost and Found booth.
According to Scott Gustin, the security screening area on the east side of the Esplanade will shift to this location after construction is complete.
The piles of rubble that were seen in our previous update have now been cleared out and large sections of the concrete have been removed. Interestingly, the concrete sections appear to have been cut strategically, and the lamp posts have been saved for now.
Several construction vehicles, including an excavator, roller, and a skid steer loader can be seen. They appear to be smoothing out the dirt underneath the concrete. Several holes can be seen in the dirt as well, likely for the plumbing and electrical of the former ticket booths.
More of the concrete is strategically cut on the other side of the demolition zone. We’re not sure if this reflects the design of the new pedestrian walkway.
DisneylandForward
The DisneylandForward expansion project prepares for an influx of visitors as Disney adds several attractions and experiences to Disneyland Resort. Two new rides are coming to Avengers Campus, a Coco ride will be added to Pixar Pier, Tomorrowland is being reimagined, and an Avatar land is still in the works.
Last month, Disney officially broke ground on the parking structure, transportation hub, and the pedestrian bridge that are part of the DisneylandForward expansion project.
The pedestrian bridge will connect the esplanade to the new parking structure at the current site of the Manchester Cast Member parking lot. There will be approximately 6,000 parking spaces, 302 EV charging spaces, a dedicated area for shuttles and ridesharing, security, and dedicated access for traffic off Disney Way.
Disney updated the concept art last month to include a roof over the pedestrian bridge, though the final design may continue to be changed.
