Disney Dreamlight Valley Season of Scares

Oogie Boogie is preparing to roll the dice in Disney Dreamlight Valley as part of the game’s new Season of Scares update.

The Season of Scares update will launch on September 23, 2026, bringing six weeks of Halloween-themed quests, mini-games, and rewards to the Valley. The update centers on Oogie Boogie from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, who has apparently devised a shady scheme for players to unravel.

According to the official developer update, a mysterious mirror will appear inside Scrooge McDuck’s Store during the update. Players who step through the mirror will discover Oogie Boogie’s lair and begin a series of weekly challenges revealing his plans for the Valley.

Completing the full questline will allow players to welcome Oogie Boogie as a new Villager. Jack Skellington’s ghostly dog, Zero, will also be available as an exclusive companion reward.

Players must begin the first Season of Scares quest before November 4 to unlock the complete questline. Those who miss the deadline will have to wait until the event returns next year before they can add Oogie Boogie to their Valley. Critically, you do not need to complete the questline before November 4 to ensure Oogie Boogie can join your Valley. Players must simply start the questline at any point before November 4.

Halloween Star Path, Valley Decorations, and More

A new Haunting Elegance Star Path will launch alongside the update. Its rewards include bewitching clothing, Halloween decorations, and dark, whimsical furniture that players can use to give their homes and Valleys a seasonal makeover.

New Halloween items are also coming to the Premium Shop. The announced offerings include:

  • A Vampire Costume Dream Style for Stitch
  • The Sinister Bridge Set
  • A companion bundle featuring Lucifer from Cinderella
  • New magical outfits, furniture, and companions

Oogie Boogie was among several characters teased for Disney Dreamlight Valley during the “Your Dream, Your Valley” panel at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in August.

Two limited-time Halloween events will also take place during the spooky season. The Haunted Floating Festival will return from October 7 through October 31. The Trick-or-Treat event will follow from October 14 through October 31, featuring new candy-collecting activities and exclusive rewards.

Among the rewards available in the upcoming update are a Little Red Riding Hood outfit and matching wolf companion specifically inspired by ABC’s Once Upon a Time. This marks the first time Disney Dreamlight Valley has introduced content based on the live-action fantasy television series.

In addition to housing the mysterious portal to Oogie Boogie’s lair, Scrooge McDuck’s Store will receive its first complete remodel since Disney Dreamlight Valley launched.

Scrooge’s familiar shop will have an entirely refreshed appearance for the scary holiday, giving one of the Valley’s most frequently visited buildings its first-ever seasonal overlay.

The default player house is also getting a new exterior skin, adding a new house customization option that actually adheres pretty closely to the default architectural style—a unique addition, given that most house skins tend to radically transform players’ homes into new structures entirely.

Quality of Life Improvements

Oogie Boogie is preparing to roll the dice in Disney Dreamlight Valley as part of the game’s new Season of Scares update.

Season of Scares will introduce several quality-of-life improvements focused on decorating and managing the Valley.

A new preset-sharing feature will allow players to share their decorated spaces with others. Players will be able to exchange designs and more easily recreate complete builds without placing every item individually.

A biome-clearing option will make major redesigns less time-consuming. Instead of removing furniture and decorations one piece at a time, players will be able to quickly clear a biome before beginning a new layout.

The update will additionally introduce an Event Board designed to help players keep track of as many as three live events at once.

Players will also gain access to an emote wheel. The new feature will allow them to perform emotes around Villagers and other players, providing additional ways to interact and pose for photos.

The Season of Scares update launches for Disney Dreamlight Valley on September 23, 2026.
