The Main Street Penny Arcade at Magic Kingdom closed back in 1995 and several of its machines, including Mutoscopes, were transferred to the nearby Walt Disney World Railroad station.

The Mutoscope offer a flip book-like look at old movies. Three machines remain featuring Car Train Bag, Way Down East, and The Cats in the Bag.

One of the old Penny Arcade machines is currently missing from the Main Street, U.S.A. train station at Magic Kingdom.

One machine is gone, however. The Mutoscope featured Fritz Lang’s 1927 film Metropolis. Cast Members did not know when it was removed but we saw it about a week ago.

2024

Above are photos of the machine from 2022 and 2024. It was pink and gold, like the Car Train Bag machine. You can see both in our 2022 video below.

Other Mutoscopes have gone in and out over the years for maintenance like cleaning and repainting (you may notice the green Way Down East machine isn’t in our 2022 video or corresponding post). Hopefully the Metropolis Mutoscope returns, too.
