If you’re ready to get fast and furious at Universal Orlando, you’ve probably been keeping track of progress on the construction of the new Fast & Furious roller coaster coming to Universal Studios Florida.

Construction for Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift at Universal Orlando: Hollywood Drift started earlier this year, and we’ve been doing our best to keep up with progress on the new roller coaster, which is set to open in 2027. The new coaster will be located where the former Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit once stood and will include 360-degree drifting cars racing along the tracks at high speeds. Now, we’ve got a new look at construction progress on the ride!

Thanks to @bioreconstruct on X, we just got some new aerial photos of construction progress on the roller coaster. The first photo shows a rig that’s been added to the top of one of the coaster’s hills. This will be used for pull testing, which means that a test vehicle will be moved through the track to determine if anything needs to be adjusted for safety and clearance.

Here’s a photo of the construction team adding that rigging. Whew! That is high up! This is certainly not a job for someone who has a fear of heights. RESPECT.

Back on the ground, we’ve got some photos of a shipping container on a trailer of a jackknifed truck at the start of the ride.

Here’s a view of the semi itself.

Doors were recently added to the center of the shipping container, but it’s unclear as to what these might be used for.

Just a little bit after the rig photo was posted, we got a photo of a car in pull testing on the ride. So this part of ride testing is already underway, which puts it just one step closer to opening.

Here’s a photo zoomed in a bit so you can see how the pull testing works. There’s an envelope around the car that is basically how far outside someone could reach, but it also acts as an extension of the car body when it rotates.

Here’s another photo of pull testing located at the end of the coaster’s first launch. However, the pull testing vehicle is facing the reverse direction.

So construction progress is coming along, and we’re starting to see the first pull testing. This coaster is making HUGE progress, and it looks like it’s still set to open in 2027. We’ll be keeping an eye out for more updates, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
