If you’re planning a stay at a Disney World hotel soon, I have some tips for you that could change the game.

I took my toddler on a trip to Disney World, and to make sure we had the best “home away from home” setup possible, I made some FREE requests at our Disney Resort. If you’re in a similar situation, I’m here to share my full list of hotel request tips!

Room Requests

First up, we have the requests for the room itself! These can vary from hotel to hotel depending on the layout of the resort, but you’ll likely see a few options when you do online check-in for your trip. For my stay at the BoardWalk, my primary request was a room near the elevator. 

The My Disney Experience app also gave me the option to make a secondary request, and I selected a room near the lobby. Thankfully, both of my requests were granted (though it meant we had to wait a little longer for our room to be ready on check-in day). But these requests meant that it was easy to get to and from transportation, and to get my stroller to our hotel room via elevator.

Keep in mind that there are some room types and locations that will cost you extra, and those vary by hotel. Some Disney Resorts offer paid upgrades for preferred locations, water/pool view, and other hot commodity locations. The ones that I selected were free options available during my online check-in.

Items for the Room

The other big category of requests you can make for your hotel is items for your room! The full list of options will vary by resort, and availability can change depending on how full your resort is during your stay, but you’ll see several options listed on the Hey Disney! monitor in your room.

If you don’t see something on the Hey Disney! list that you’d like to request, you can still call the front desk of your hotel or visit it personally. I did this to request a Diaper Genie. As I mentioned above, I was traveling with a toddler, and having a way to dispose of dirty diapers without filling our room’s small trash can was awesome!

Other items that were available to request that would’ve been extremely helpful with my toddler were a pack ‘n’ play or crib (we brought our own), a highchair (we didn’t do much eating in our hotel room, but this would be great for the villas with full kitchens), and liquid dish soap (this would’ve been awesome for washing our bibs, sippy cups, and baby utensils before packing).

Bell Services

Last but not least, one of my favorite “requests” throughout the week was requesting to have my luggage brought to my room! We did a split stay, so I made good use of Bell Services when trying to transfer between hotels. If you drop your luggage off with Bell Services on the morning of a hotel transfer before 10 AM, they’ll take it to your next Disney Resort for you.

Then, once you get into your room at your next hotel, you simply call Bell Services and ask to have your luggage brought to your room! This is a complimentary service, but we made sure to tip the bellhops who helped us. It’s a good idea to keep any items you might want during the day on you, because I was warned that it might take until 5 PM for the luggage to transfer between resorts.

So, there you have it — all the requests I made that improved the quality of my hotel stays during my vacation! Take full advantage of what your hotel has to offer for the best stay possible.
