Exterior refurbishment of Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa has moved to the Redwood Pool, specifically the waterslide.

The slide, which curves around a fake redwood tree, is now blocked by scaffolding and scrims. The pool itself and surrounding area remain open for guest access.

Over at GCH Craftsman Grill, there’s still scaffolding in place outside the restaurant. Since our last update, crews have covered the windows with a film preventing guests from seeing the construction site.

The walls around the patio have also moved further in towards the building, closing the lower level of seating. The upper level and bar are still open.

On the east side of the pool area, crew members have started removing scaffolding in this corner. They were lowering planks of wood that acted as platforms.

The Feature Pool, which is right next to GCH Craftsman Grill, closed in early September. We’re now seeing crew members actively at work on the pool deck. During our latest visit, it looked like they were in the process of tearing up some pool deck tile, presumably for replacement and/or utility work.

On the west side of the hotel, only a small portion of scaffolding remains in place, as the larger scaffolding structure we’ve seen in recent weeks appears to be in the process of coming down.
