Character maquettes from the upcoming Disney film Hexed have debuted in The Magic of Disney Animation at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
New Hexed Character Maquettes
Hexed follows teenager Billie Doe as she embarks on a journey of self-discovery after discovering she has magical powers. Her newfound abilities lead her to the witch realm of Hexe.
The display features maquettes of Billie and other characters, including Alice Doe, Beef Roger Crummchuk, and Bucket, along with visuals showcasing the film’s concept.
Maquettes are sculptures that help animators understand a character’s look and shape. They provide a reference for proportions, poses, and personality as a character develops from concept to animation.
Billie Doe Maquette
Billie’s maquette helps visualize her character’s appearance in the film. Beside her is the magical bracelet that suppresses her powers, which she accidentally breaks, setting her magical journey in motion.
Alice Doe Maquette
This maquette is of Billie’s mother, Alice Doe. The cautious, Type-A mother realizes she can no longer protect Billie from Hexe’s mysteries.
Beef Roger Crummchuk and Bucket Maquette
The maquette of Beef Roger Crummchuk and Bucket features the wisdom-dropping, three-eyed cat perched inside the enchanted cauldron, Bucket. Beef Roger Crummchuk forms an unlikely alliance with Billie and Alice throughout the film.
Another display case features Elias Quire, a magical, talking journal, along with visual development artwork, and a brief description of Hexed.
Hexed releases in theatres on November 25th.
