Reddit user Ok-Kick-4762 asked about the evacuation on r/DisneyWorld. They described the incident from their point of view in the ride’s queue:

We stood in line and were almost there when the cast members frantically closed the ride and ushered everyone out saying there was an emergency. They didn’t just close the entrance, there were about a dozen if not more people making a line all the way across so you couldn’t even get close. We then saw they closed Tianas – maybe so nobody could see Big Thunder? Never saw police or EMS but it was just really strange the way they went about it.

They confirmed in a comment that the incident took place at about 2:30 p.m.

User Least-Ambassador-781 responded, “There was a fire and we were all evacuated. I was in line and this is what the CM said.”

Thrill Data indicates the ride was closed from about 2:54 p.m. to 6:50 p.m. on Sunday, September 27. It operated normally for the rest of the evening and reopened on Monday morning.

However, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closed again just before 1 p.m. and has not reopened as of writing.

Disney has not confirmed the reported fire or the reason for today’s downtime.
