The Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground has been a staple at Disney World since (nearly) the very beginning. While the campground was planned to be an opening day attraction at the Vacation Kingdom, construction delays pushed the campground back slightly. It actually opened about 6 weeks after the rest of Disney World on November 19th, 1971.

Even with that scheduling issue, over the last 50+ years, Fort Wilderness has become a favorite for guests who want to capture a part of the great outdoors during their Disney World stay, with many returning year after year. That has, in turn, led to some interesting traditions developing within the confines of the campground, including a new(ish) one regarding golf carts.
So, quick catch-up: Fort Wilderness offers golf cart rentals that make it easier to get around the sprawling grounds and campsite. These electric golf carts are equipped with windshields and headlights for night driving and are available to guests 18 years of age and older with a valid driver’s license. Drivers must be 16 years of age or older with a valid driver’s license, and all drivers must have their license on them when operating the cart. However, the price — which costs between $75 and $100 per day, tax included — can be prohibitive, especially for those who are spending most of their time in the parks. Disney also allows guests to bring their own golf carts, but “for the safety of everyone at the Resort hotel, you must be prepared to present proof of insurance upon check-in and sign an agreement and waiver.”

All of that to say that golf carts are a pretty common sight at Fort Wilderness, which leads us to “Camp Hair Don’t Care.”

This game among guests involves a large collection of pool noodles that look like a messy hairdo when zip-tied to the top of a golf cart. Some decorate the vehicle further with signs, or even props like sunglasses.

Guests attach it to their car during their stay, then as they leave, they pass the decoration to another party of guests who attach it to their own cart, and so on.
