It Just Got a Little More COMPLICATED To Enter Disneyland

Disneyland is going through a LOT right now, with construction happening all throughout the resort. A new Coco ride and Avatar Land are coming to Disney California Adventure. Avengers Campus is getting an expansion with two new rides. Upgrades are happening at Disney’s Grand Californian Resort & Spa.

Well, that’s not all. There’s also a lot of construction happening around the entrances to Disneyland, which means it’s a little harder to get INTO the resort. However, Disney recently posted a warning on its website about construction on the esplanade and how you can navigate it.

Disneyland visitors will soon have to use temporary walkways surrounded by construction walls to get into the theme parks and Downtown Disney as a result of construction that will build a new pedestrian bridge over Harbor Boulevard. So entering the parks will be changing very soon and could change often while construction work is being done.

Disneyland Esplanade

Disney has already destroyed the ticket booths on the east Esplanade, while the East Security screening area temporarily shifts to that area.

The Toy Story parking lot shuttle bus drop-off and pick-up area is also changing. It will move slightly north and closer to Harbor Boulevard. Meanwhile, the Downtown Disney rideshare area has been refreshed, while selected transportation and pick-up and drop-off locations have been relocated nearby.

The new pedestrian bridge will connect the Disneyland esplanade with a new parking structure, transportation hub, and security screening area on what is now a Cast Member parking lot. A permanent security checkpoint will be located under the new pedestrian bridge once construction is completed. This is the first and one of the biggest steps in the $1.9 billion DisneylandForward expansion.

Construction work on the bridge and esplanade is expected to be completed in 2028 in time for the Avengers Campus expansion opening and the Los Angeles Summer Olympics. However, Disney has not yet officially announced an opening timeline. If you’ll be visiting Disneyland soon, you may want to give yourself additional time to get into the parks, especially if you’re staying off-property.
