Join us for a tour of a 3-Bedroom Grand Villa in Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Our room had a view of Magic Kingdom, but there are also Grand Villas with Bay Lake views. Each villa has one king bed, four queen beds, and one double-size pull down bed, sleeping up to 12 adults.

Entrance

We were in villa 8426. There is an entrance off both floors.

Just inside the main entrance is a double-door closet which includes hangers.

Past that is the staircase to the second floor.

There’s a framed black-and-white photo of Roy O. Disney and Mickey at the dedication of Magic Kingdom on October 25, 1971. The villa has many other historic Disney photos throughout.

The thermostat is on the same wall.

A hallway across from the stairs leads to a bathroom and laundry room.
Laundry Room

The laundry room has cubbies and cabinets, as well as hanging space. There’s a Conair Hospitality Steam Iron, an ironing board hanging by the door, and a collapsible laundry basket available.

The washer and dryer units are stacked. There’s space for folding. This unit is typical of other DVC villas. If you’re cramped for closet space, this is perfect space for additional storage during your stay.
First Bathroom

This bathroom near the entrance includes a corner vanity, toilet, and shower. Since Bay Lake opened during the 2008 recession, we still do notice signs of corner-cutting when it comes to furnishings.

It comes stocked with hand soap and body lotion.

Above the towel rack is a black-and-white photo of the Contemporary Resort under construction.

The shower has a blue and off-white curtain with geometric designs inspired by the Contemporary’s design and Mary Blair artwork.

The shower is lined with sand-colored marble.

Bar bath soap is provided, along with the mounted shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.

It has an affixed waterfall shower head and a handheld head, plus the tub and standard faucet.
Living & Dining Room

Back in the living room, a rug with colorful contemporary designs is in the center of the space. Gathered around the edges are an L-shaped couch, which doesn’t open into a bed, and two round chairs. We feel the furniture and finishes in this room have given the space a glow-up since it was last remodeled.

There is a square end table and small round end table, plus a pair of coffee tables that can be pushed together. The back wall features tall windows with adjustable shades.

Across from the couch is a cabinet and a mounted TV against an accent wall of slatted wood. The cabinet below the TV had additional storage when you opened the door, but we did find it annoying that the doors would hit the carpet, so we could only open them so far.

This is where the Hey Disney! voice assistant is located.

Overlooking the living room is a loft and the window of one of the upstairs bedrooms.

Artwork in the Mary Blair style hangs high above the TV, featuring Mickey and Minnie on Main Street in front of Cinderella Castle, and appears to have the Progress City tower behind Cinderella Castle.

Separating the living space from the kitchen is a long dining table that seats 10 guests. The light fixture above the table caught our eye and really complemented the decor.

The chairs have padded seats and backs, and brown wood supports. They don’t have arms.
Kitchen

At the edge of the kitchen is a marble-topped island. The cabinets consist of dark wood, with the upper cabinets featuring frosted window fronts. We loved the look of the kitchen and the pop of color from the bright green tile backsplash. This might be our favorite DVC kitchen on Disney property.

On the kitchen side of the island are three woodgrain drawers.

Next to the full-size fridge is a pantry with built-in shelves. This pantry has more than enough, maybe even too much, space for the 12 guests that this villa can accommodate.

There is a dishwasher, oven, stove, microwave, and sink.

On the counters is a Keurig, coffee-making supplies, dishwashing supplies, and a four slot toaster.

Inside the cabinets, you’ll find cooking supplies, drinkware, plates, and bowls.
Kitchen Balcony

Behind blue and sheer curtains in the kitchen is a balcony.

There are two chairs and a small table outside.

From our room, we could see Cinderella Castle, Space Mountain, TRON Lightcycle Run, and more of the park, plus the Monorail track.
King Bedroom & Bathroom

Next to the stairs, a door leads to the king bedroom and en-suite bathroom.

The bed features white linens and a blue-green accent pillow with Mickeys integrated into the design. The beige carpet has a curvy contemporary design with blue and gold accents that left a little to be desired.

We did love the style of the padded headboard, which has two built-in reading lights. There are also lamps on each end table. If you take a closer look at the lampshade, there are designs of the monorail, Space Mountain, and Bay Lake Tower, which we thought was a cool touch. The lamps also include several different outlet options, including two standard outlets and a USB and USB-C outlet.

On either side of the bed are end tables, each of which has a cubby and two drawers below. In the bedroom, we loved the combination of different shades and hues of brown. We especially loved how it’s used with the pops of color throughout the villa.

In the corner of the room is a red armchair. This room has a balcony that also connects to the living room.

Across from the bed is an oblong dresser with six drawers and a marble top. Mounted above is a TV.

On the wall next to the TV is another great geometric piece of art, this time depicting Frontierland featuring Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Big Al of the Country Bears.

Next to the bed is art representing Adventureland, including Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room. The Barker Bird, which no longer exists, is also included in the art and is an addition we appreciated.

Inside the closet is a safe, luggage rack, hangers, and a wire shelf. The bathroom has a sliding door consisting of a frosted glass panel in a wood frame.

The bathroom has a wide vanity with a single sink and a tub. A separate room holds the toilet and shower.

The tub has a faucet on the outer edge. There is nothing special that stood out to us when it came to the theming of this area of the bathroom. The bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are not mounted.

The mirror above the sink features a frosted Monorail design, which is also included in the Incredibles-themed rooms at the Contemporary, and is our favorite detail of this bathroom.

There’s a makeup mirror on the wall above a towel rack and outlets. We are always on the lookout for the outlet situation whenever we review a room, and we were pleased with the number of outlets available in this bathroom.

There is storage space under the vanity with spare towels, toilet paper, and a hairdryer.

Another towel rack is across from the sink. The toilet/shower room has its own sliding door. We do find this separation nice because of the convenience it offers guests. For example, one guest could be using this room while others can use the other part of the bathroom to get ready.

The step-in shower has a glass door with a built-in towel rack/handle. Inside is a waterfall shower head and handheld head, mounted amenities, and a marble bench.

There are two more towel racks on the wall next to the toilet.

Above the toilet is artwork of the Walt Disney World Railroad, again in the same Mary Blair style we’ve seen throughout the villa.
Loft

Time to head upstairs! They have wood-style steps with metal accents and paneled walls.

Hanging over the staircase is a chandelier of three hanging lights.

The loft sits between the two other bedrooms. This is where the pull-down bed is located, over a loveseat and ottoman. The ottoman has two lids, which flip over to turn it into a coffee table. There’s an end table with a drawer and lamp. The loft has hard woodgrain floor but a small rug is under the loveseat and bed.

The artwork above the seat features the Monorail with the original Contemporary building and Bay Lake Tower. There is also an end table with a drawer and cubby and lamp next to the Murphy bed. The lamp includes more outlets: two standard and two USB.

There are two handles to pull down the twin bed. Before the villa was refurbished, there was a pull-out couch instead of a Murphy bed. When pulled down, Mary Blair-style art of Cinderella Castle is revealed above the bed.

On the other side of the loft is a six-drawer dresser and TV, which make it a great additional bedroom-type space. This loft space also offers the same number of outlets (two standard outlets and a USB and USB-C outlet inside the Murphy bed on both sides) as a primary bedroom, which we feel is a great bonus.

The loft overlooks the living room, enjoying the same tall windows. There’s a second entrance on this floor, too.
First 2 Queens Bedroom & Bathroom

The queen beds have the same white linens and blue-green accent pillow as the king bed. They have similar padded headboards, too, but we did find the design of these queen rooms to be plain.

Hanging to either side of the beds are orb light fixtures in golden frames. The headboards also have reading lights. There are built-in cubby end tables attached to the walls and a two-cubby end table in between the two beds. Above each end table is a set of two standard outlets, a USB outlet, and a USB-C outlet.

On the wall next to the beds is Tomorrowland artwork with Space Mountain, Astro Orbiter, and Buzz Lightyear.

Across from the beds is a long gray counter over the dresser and an opening for a padded stool. There are built-in outlets above the counter. On the wall is gray-beige artwork based on the Contemporary Resort’s lobby mural. We loved the nod to Mary Blair with this mural, but didn’t like the color being sucked out of the art.

Mounted against this accent mural are a TV and a gold-framed mirror. With the stool beneath the counter and the mirror, we thought this area would make a good desk or spot to get ready.

Next to the dresser unit is a small bench with an orange seat and a patterned back. We loved the splash of color it gives to the relatively plain room.

This room has its own balcony with two chairs and a table.

Like the bedroom downstairs, these rooms have en-suite bathrooms.

This room’s closet was huge. It is a walk-in closet, but we felt it lacked storage for its size.

In the bathroom is a single-sink vanity similar to the king bathroom. There’s a separate toilet room but the shower and tub are combined here.

There is storage space under the sink. An oblong mirror hangs above it, between two light fixtures. The tub has sliding glass doors.

The shower has a small built-in cubby above the mounted amenities. Again, it has a waterfall shower head and a handheld shower head.

A pair of towel racks are across from the toilet.

Above the toilet is artwork inspired by the Main Street Electrical Parade.
Second 2 Queens Bedroom & Bathroom

The other double queen bedroom is nearly identical, just with a swapped layout. These rooms don’t have rugs, only hard woodgrain flooring and tile floor in the bathroom.

The beds are elevated with space underneath for luggage storage.

This room has a matching mural behind the TV and mirror. It has the same dresser/desk unit.

Instead of a bench, it has an armchair with the same color scheme and pattern.

Behind the chair is the window overlooking the living room that we like and found to be a fun touch. The window has shutters for privacy.

This room’s artwork represents Liberty Square, including the now defunct Liberty Square Riverboat. The Haunted Mansion is in the background.

There’s another balcony with two chairs and a table.

Same closet as the other queen room, but this closet also has extra bedding and a luggage rack.

The bathroom has a single-sink vanity, tub and shower, and a toilet room.

The tub has all the same offerings as the other showers.

The toilet room has a sliding door.

This final piece of artwork represents Fantasyland. It features Mad Tea Party cups and pot, Prince Charming Regal Carrousel, the “it’s a small world” clock face, and Big Ben from Peter Pan’s Flight. While we love the artwork in all the bathrooms, we feel like it would be better to have them placed on the opposite wall.
Overall, we love the layout of this three-bedroom villa at Bay Lake Tower, as well as the amazing views of Magic Kingdom. We think the most recent remodel brought in great furnishings and made the villa better than ever.
Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort opened in 2009 next to the original resort building. It features 428 DVC villas. Check out our 2020 tour of a two-bedroom villa at Bay Lake Tower.
