Merryweather was forced to abandon her character scooter and continue on foot after the device that helps the good fairy “fly” malfunctioned during the Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade at Magic Kingdom.

Merryweather’s Major Malfunction

An Instagram Reel shared by user noahmyers42 captured the full incident during a recent Magic Kingdom visit. The technical issue occurred near the top of Main Street, U.S.A. Merryweather was traveling along the parade route in her blue costume when her motorized mobility device, hidden under the fairy’s large dress, stopped moving—leaving her stuck in place.

Two production team Cast Members wearing black shirts entered the route and began inspecting the scooter. After they were unable to get it moving again, Merryweather detached herself from the device and continued through the parade on foot.

Merryweather and the Cast Members then worked to conceal the disabled scooter beneath black fabric while moving it away from the center of the parade route. The covering blended with the black portion of the character costume that ordinarily hides the mobility device.

A green utility tractor later arrived to tow the disabled device out of sight and clear the route before the parade’s Maleficent dragon float approached.

Despite the technical issue, Merryweather remained in character and rejoined her sisters on foot as the remainder of the Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade continued.
