Walt Disney World has updated its guidance regarding tree nut allergens based on FDA classifications.
Walt Disney World Allergy Information

The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) no longer classifies the following ingredients as major tree nut allergens.
- Coconut
- Kola (cola nut)
- Beechnut
- Butternut
- Chestnut
- Chinquapin
- Ginkgo nut
- Hickory nut
- Palm nut
- Pili nut
- Sheanut (shea)
As a result, menu items at Disney-owned and -operated restaurants containing these ingredients may be included in allergy-friendly options.
This means guests with allergies to any of the above items should pay careful attention when ordering. Items labeled safe for tree nut allergies will no longer exclude these ingredients.
Walt Disney World’s online menus sort menu items by these “top 9” allergy categories: wheat (and gluten), dairy, egg, soy, fish, shellfish, peanut, tree nut, and sesame. In-person, restaurants have allergy menus that guests can consult.
Guests with food allergies are encouraged to speak to Cast Members at the restaurant. For detailed information, they can ask for a Special Diets-Trained Cast Member.
Disney states, “While we take steps to prevent cross-contact, we cannot guarantee that any item is completely free of allergens. Our allergy-friendly recipes may use highly refined oils, such as soybean oil and/or ingredients that are processed in facilities that also process allergens. It is ultimately at Guests’ discretion to make an informed choice based upon their individual dietary needs.”
More information about allergies and special dietary requests is available on the Walt Disney World website.
