A festive new remote-controlled R2 unit and a fan-designed Droid Factory figure have landed at Disneyland Park just in time for the holiday season
Holiday R2-H16 Droid – $119.99
The R2-H16 droid has a holiday color scheme of red, green, white, and gold. The droid is also intended for ages three and up.
The droid is topped with a green Santa hat with a red pom-pom. The primary color of the head is white, and most of the body is red. The droid’s eye frame is red, and there are green panels on the head. The body has a mix of green, white, and gold panels. The feet are all red with green accents and gold wiring. The arms of the droid are primarily red with white, green, and gold accents.
The R2-H16 droid includes a holiday personality chip, light and sound effects, and a remote control. The remote controls the direction of the droid, the droid’s dome, its sound effects, and activates its accessories, similar to other Droid Depot devices. The panels and doors on the droid are also removable.
KP-1 Fan-Designed Droid – $19.99
This KP-1 droid is fan-designed, and its color scheme is white, green, and silver, inspired by the “salty breath of fresh air” from the Planet Jabiim. The dome of the droid is silver with green details. The body of the droid is cone-shaped with a rounded motion base and includes a telescoping neck. The body is primarily white with green panels.
The droid details are meant to resemble a holographic projector, primary photo receptor and radar eye, and tool extension panel. On the back of the packaging is more information about the droid and its story.
KP-1 was designed by French Star Wars fan Camille Manet for the 2019 Build My Droid contest organized by Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: Force for Change initiative and the global robotics organization FIRST. Manet’s design won the grand prize and was later brought to life for Part V of the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi.
We spotted these two new droids at the Droid Depot in Disneyland Park. If you loved the fan-designed KP-1 droid, we also found it online.
