A few changes are on the way to Disney World! Some of them are new, and some of them could bring back features we have been missing.
Magic Kingdom entrance
Disney World recently filed a few permits for some new projects, and while we know what some of them are for, we’re left guessing for another. We have all the information for you, so let’s dive into what’s coming and what’s possibly on the way!
Walt Disney Imagineering has filed four new permits with Orange County for signage work, and it looks like it applies to the toll plazas at all four Disney World theme parks. Kentavo is the listed contractor on the permit, and the company is known for Disney signage, with a long track record of work across the resort.
Bring Disney to your car!
Each permit actually corresponds to one of the four parks, including Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. So, this is very much an update across Disney World rather than a one-off replacement.
Driving to Hollywood Studios
It’s been a big year of construction at Disney World, from upcoming attractions to rides reopening. One of those reopenings earlier this year was Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Magic Kingdom. Well, it looks like Disney isn’t done quite yet, as Walt Disney Imagineering has also filed a permit to “install set elements” at the popular attraction. While we don’t know what specifically is coming, we think we could see some little friends returning!
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
After 16 months of refurbishment, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad finally reopened in May. There were a lot of new elements that had been added to the ride, but we noticed (and so did a lot of guests) that the opossums that used to hang over riders in Tumbleweed were gone! We didn’t panic too much, since Disney said that they’d return soon, but we haven’t seen or heard anything since. Well, like we mentioned, Disney filed a new permit recently, and maybe this is the sign!
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Look, Disney hasn’t stated any details, and there is nothing in the permit that mentions opossums. All we know is that they are working to “install set elements”. That being said, it looks like things could be lining up, but the elements could really be for anything. We’ll be keeping an eye out for any changes. If you’re looking for details on the permit, Walt Disney Imagineering is the owner, and the address at 4485 Caribbean Way #B corresponds to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
We love this ride!
We don’t have any other details than what was provided, so we’ll also be keeping an eye out for other updates. There is a lot of construction happening at Disney World still, which means there is a lot to keep up with. So, make sure to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog to get all the latest.
